More often than not, you notice how people's negative reviews are a reflection of themselves more than the hotel itself. Overall, Sri Chiang Yeun House is an ADORABLE place to stay. It's run by a lovely, hospitable family. I stayed here initially for 5 days and decided to extend my stay for another full week, I felt truly at home. Their communal area downstairs is an amazing place to work from - fast wifi, tons of natural sunlight, right next to the canal. Attached to the hotel is a popular local dessert shop that they also own, which adds to the coziness and home-y neighborhood atmosphere. About the rooms themselves - granted, the walls are thin. But the only problems I had were because of the guests (e.g. loud neighbors walking around in their room at 2am, or just generally loud guests oblivious to others around them), not the room itself. The rooms are quite basic and that's what makes them charming. The owners are also VERY appreciative of feedback. Be kind to people, and you'll be happily met with reciprocal kindness. I'll happily stay here again on my next trip(s) to Chiang Mai ♥️

I stayed Sri Chiang Yeun House for weeks in a room that was not really set up for long term stays but the wonderful owners and staff went out of their way to accommodate make and me comfortable. I almost felt part of the family. The hotel is in a great location just across the moat from the old city and close to many of the best areas of Chiang Mai. My room overlooked a Buddhist temple with a giant golden Buddha with tinkling chimes and chanting monks. A wonderful magical experience for me

This place has great room service, and they have an attached, very authentic, only in Thai sort of dessert shop right next to this hotel. The room faces a beautiful temple and you wake up looking at the face of buddha. 100% recommend this hotel it’s absolutely stunning

The rooms were nice and bright with a nice view onto the road. However, everything was very run down and dirty. You can feel that there is NO love and passion that goes into this hotel :( There was no room service, so you can imagine what the floor looked like with three women in one room. Breakfast was very simple and fine but with very little variety. The location, however, is absolutely great. In total a mediocre stay but great location.

NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN! I stayed here alone and my worst travel fear came true—someone entered my room while I was showering. I can confirm what others wrote: the property is FILTHY, run down, no staff on site most hours of the day. Covered in thick dust, torn bedding, stains everywhere. No real cleaning service. They do not have Do Not Disturb signs and it took 10+ hours to get an iron. Mattresses as hard as the wood floor. The price is shocking for such poor conditions that look nothing like the pictures.
