Very nice hostel next to the train station. I can only recommend it as it's location is wonderful, it's clean, prices are great and there's a bar that is part of the hostel where hostel guests get great discounts on food and a selection of drinks. The rooms are very spacious with big lockers under the beds and toilets/showers are outside the rooms and very modern. Special thank you to Anthony, a very friendly receptionist who seems to always be very helpful and kind.

The only good things about that place are the location and the staff. The bad things are a big list: - I got a double room and the picture was from a nice bad. Mine was a metal one, rusty. The mattress was full of small balls and it was very thin. - The place looked like it didn’t see a deep clean in ages. The floor had dust on the corners and on the furniture. - The shower was slippery and full of lime in the glass. The door was also not working properly. The water had absolutely no pressure and we had to choose which part of our body we wanted to get wet. They only give you 2 towels, so you don’t have anything to step onto when getting off the shower, so the bathroom gets very wet. Also, there’s nothing inside the shower for you to put shampoo and so, so we had to shower with the door open, to reach the things on the sink. The light switch is by a thread and you can see how dark and dirty the thread is. Disgusting to touch. - They say “coffee and tea free on the room” but when we checked the kettle, that was the situation of it (see the pictures), so we never touched again, obviously. - In resume: the pictures of the place are very misleading and looks like they really don’t care, as I saw people complaining about the same things a year ago on Google. I understand that is a hostel, but cleanliness is the bare minimum.

We stayed at this hostel for 3 nights. We were immediately impressed by the location. It's right in the centre and you only have to turn the corner and you're on the royal mile. There were 3 of us travelling and we had a 4-bed room. The room was quite small but adequate. The mattresses were unfortunately very hard and the electronics didn't work on the one double bed. We had our own bathroom. Also very small, but sufficient! Unfortunately it was getting on in years and there were lots of dirty areas. We would have appreciated some hangers or coat hooks in the room. Our room was directly on the 1st floor. To get there, you have to hold the card against it to open it. To get out you had to press a button, which then always made a sound. Since our room was right there and a lot of people walked through with us, as the "Locker Room" is on the floor, the sound was constantly audible and very annoying. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately there were no towels left when we arrived. The hostel has a lift, which was very good for me as a person with limited mobility. We didn't have breakfast, but we went to the pub opposite several times and had a great time there. We would stay at the hostel again.

Good points: - I requested a lower bunk and was given one. - the privacy curtains on the beds are great - location of the hostel was excellent. Bad points: - no welcome drink voucher as promised on check in, had to ask them at check out for one. - no sanitary bins in the toilet - no hand dryers or paper towels in the toilets - in order for me to get a cup of tea or heat something up in the microwave, I had to walk across the road. - ‘free coffee/tea’ didn’t exist - didn’t rent out towels as someone had broken their washer (seemingly broken for weeks according to other reviewers). - hair dryers are awful, hardly any power. - no good common area. Only a few chairs. - dirty bathrooms I know UK hostels are supposed to be awful compared to other countries but come on - no sanitary bins?
