We had a traditional Swiss dinner at the hotel restaurant and it did not disappoint. We ordered the fondue with mushrooms and herbs, 1 serving of potatoes to share, and a cold meats plate. Everything tasted amazing, the price was reasonable and we left sufficiently happy and full, but not stuffed. The servers were so friendly and everyone works hard to make sure you have a wonderful time.

Our room was small but good and clean. We also had dinner here which was fabulous. Very tasty and more than enough. Good wine and nice salad bar complemented the rest. I can recommend the cheese fondue. The staff is super friendly. The breakfast was also good, lots of choice and nice setting. Would definitely recommend and hope to come back!

We stayed at this hotel for a few nights in a room for four people. The room was basic, but reasonable for the price, especially during what I’d imagine is peak summer season. For us, the restaurant was the highlight. We ate there both nights we stayed in the hotel, and besides enjoying the 10% discount for those staying there, we also thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service. The portions were huge - and this is coming from an American, so that’s a compliment. And more importantly, everything tasted really good! In these touristy mountain towns, restaurants can get away with selling mediocre food to tourists for inflated prices. The food at Bernerhof was really good, and there was loads of it. I’d rate their “Älplermagaronen” up there with the best I’ve had around Switzerland. The schnitzel came with *two* whole pieces of fried pork - One would have been reasonable. The staff was also super nice and accommodating of my kids’ many requests. In short, save yourself the effort of going around to all the hotel restaurants and looking at the menus posted in the window (spoiler alert: they all have the same dishes!) or searching around on Google (spoiler alert: they all have about 4.0 star average reviews!) and eat here.

We stayed at this hotel as well as ate in the restaurant twice. On a positive - the food was excellent! Aside from the server Ruud, who was extremely friendly, we were appalled by the service. We witnessed a female waitress ask a customer at the table next to us if she wanted to leave a tip. She clearly didn't understand what the waitress was asking, and instead of being patient, the waitress snatched the credit card machine back, rolled her eyes and made an extremely rude comment - we watched in complete horror and shock. As stated in other reviews, the hotel is very old & outdated, with extremely thin walls and floors. We could hear our neighbors, as well as anyone that went up and down the stairs. If you're a light sleeper, I would definitely avoid! Lastly, this hotel has a $50 fee if you arrive after 6PM. Contrary to what we were told, we were never notified in advance on the site we booked the hotel. If you have fluid plans that will be changing based on weather I would avoid this hotel.

We only had a dinner. The food was good. Beer was good. The female waitress ruined the hole experience. Everything was going well from the beginning. When we finished the dishes, she took away the plates and we were waiting for a dessert menu or the bill, both ok. BUT for 15min, no one came to the table. We understand the restaurant was busy, so we have asked for a bill three times (2 was ignored and 1 was noticed by a male waiter who was nice but apparently the female waitress is responsible for the bills). So, we waited for another few minutes, no one came. It was so awkward that we were just sitting at an empty table and no one notice our request. We could see customers queuing were waiting for this table. Then My father was getting angry and he knocked the table. I do apologize for this but that anger was for a reason. Even after this, no one came to the table in the next few minutes. So we went to the front desk, where the waiters and the female waitress were just standing there. She just said a number, and let me inserted the card. No details of the bill (in fact we doubt if this is the reason they couldn’t give the bill). We were not expecting any apology or explanation, we just wanna catch the next train. BUT after I paid the bill, and my father walked out of the restaurant, she said it’s rude to knock the table in Switzerland. No one knock tables in any part of the world for no reason. She does not reflect her service and attitude. I don’t want to assume people being racist but given the situation I really doubt it. Good restaurant without her. Recommend the cheese hotpot.
