This is a 3 star hotel. It gets 3 stars not because it is bad but because it is what is for a 3 star Hotel. Sort of an old place which could use some refurbishing. Heater works great. Shower has hot water with good water pressure. Bed is a bit on the hard side. Room is very small and bathroom is way too small. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Staff speak English,Chinese and Japanese. They should vacuum ground though so that there is not so much hair on ground. Room is worth about 6,000 YEN per night. Walk from Ikebukuro station is not too far. 1st floor rooms can be noisy every time someone walks up to reception counter. Doors are not soundproof.

Tatami rooms, non smoking. The sleeping space is pretty small, but there is a good size space for luggage. Note: they have the smaller size bedding - my fiancé is under 6ft, but his feet went out the bottom of the quilt and off the end of the futon and the tatami. Did some creative organising with an extra pillow to act as a bit of futon and slept diagonally across so his feet didn’t get cold :) Hosts are lovely, very friendly. Rooms are very quiet, we couldn’t hear the child next door at all.

This is a Chinese-run hotel. The staff are friendly, and can speak English, Chinese, and Japanese. One room key is provided. Towels are replaceable any time, upon request. It's pretty good of a 2 star hotel, with free cold/hot water and powder tea/coffee. Their coin laundry and dryer is at a fair price, located in the basement. The free wifi isn't bad, either. The room itself felt a bit dirty, but nothing serious. Staff come in every day to make your futon for you, unless you put the Do Not Disturb sign out. But what's best about this hotel is its location, with 7/11 right around the corner, and a short walk to Ikebukuro station.
