The owner and his wife were very hospitable upon check in and when requesting extra towels. They seem to get along well with their staff who are also very friendly. The rooms are nice and the spa/pool area was empty while we were staying. Sometimes the smell of downtown Santa Cruz works its way through the open roof of the hotel but otherwise the atmosphere is pleasant. The price of the room was also very reasonable. There is a $100 deposit upon check in though.

Charming little Santa Cruz hotel with great character and location, just a short walk from the beach and the boardwalk! Reasonably priced rooms that are simple, clean and spacious with a nice big TV. Very dog friendly which is great. Iftee and Satia are the heart of the hotel and really made my experience wonderful. They were both so sweet and helpful, making my stay here exactly what I needed. I will absolutely be back any time I need a place to stay in Santa Cruz. Thanks for accommodating me and my pup!

As soon as we checked in, we knew we'd regret our hotel choice. There are houses next to this hotel and one was BLASTING music. As luck would have it, we received the room right above this party. I understand this is not the hotels fault but it's not ideal. It was bad, we could hear their conversation. We pleaded to get a refund, if not then to change our room to the opposite side at least. We were refused both. We were told we had to go through Expedia. We messaged Expedia and they told us that was a lie and the hotel has to approve the refund. Expedia called on our behalf and the hotel said they would try and call the police. And that was that- we were forced to stay. Ok, fine, we will make the best of it, we thought. Hair on the bathroom walls, gross. Trash in the trash can, ew. And to top it all off, no soap provided in the room at all. We tried to go back to the reception and ask for at least a soap as all we were provided was lotion. Rung the bell and waited. 3min, 5 min, 10min ,nothing. So, yes we did try and ask for help- to no avail.

standard room. nothing special. no cable TV. Amazon fire stick, you have to add your own account to watch anything (sketchy). open wiring in the bathroom, definitely an electrical hazard. they obviously bought the bed frames first, then went cheap on the mattresses, CHEAP on the mattresses, they were almost a foot smaller than the frames, I banged my shins on the frames all night. it was ridiculous, if cheap was a theme they nailed it. the alarm clock plugged in with a USB cable.

This hotel is amazing! The owner is so friendly and accommodating, the rooms are clean, and the location is wonderful. It's situated right between downtown and the Boardwalk, so we pretty much walked the entire time. The comforter and bed are the most comfortable I've ever slept on, and the TV is larger than that of most hotels I've stayed at. If you have the chance to stay here, please do. :)
