The hotel experience itself was good. It's a 2-star hotel located right of the freeway. Convenient location but not the "nicest" location. My room was clean. The on-site staff were great. Heck, the breakfast was even good (I may have low standards from my backpacking days). The post-hotel experience was terrible. The room was paid for with a company card. I was only given a receipt for my personal card that was kept on file for incidentals. Multiple phone calls, emails, and over a month later . . . I still don't have a real receipt showing the amount that was charged to our company card. Which has unfortunately ruined the otherwise good experience.

Room was fine. They were a little understaffed so service wasn't perfect, but adequate. Desk management did his best.

This place is really small, you cannot get into the bathroom without standing on the toilet to close the door. There are more rooms than parking spots, so if everyone has a car or there are large vehicles taking up more than one spot you won't get parking. Other than that we asked for more eggs at breakfast 30 min before closure and they would not refill it because they might make too many and have to throw them out. Also our carpet was really wet (they said from carpet cleaning) but they didn't have another room for us. I would not recommend, spend a few dollars more and stay somewhere else.

I’m not to sure what was worse, the room or the service. Jk lol, it’s easily the service. I booked their most expensive suite a week in advance for a trip, when arriving our door was cracked open and the room was an entire MESS. When explaining this to one of the front desk employees he got frustrated and stated “I’m not even supposed to be working today”. After this encounter the manager didn’t help either at all, not even some sort of discount of the room. She was even ruder, I ended up paying for a suite just to stay in a king room

I was a little worried about staying here after I read some of the other reviews... but now I'm glad I kept my reservation. Guys, my room was perfectly clean. This is not the Ritz or anything like that. It's not the most luxurious Best Western. But it is clean, within walking distance of everything you would wanna do in Santa Cruz (took me and my dad only ~20 minutes to get downtown), AND they have a decent variety for breakfast. I would absolutely recommend this hotel if you're on a budget.
