We stayed at the Ayrlington for a night and would highly recommend it. The staff were all lovely, the crane room was beautiful and uniquely decorated with great views over the garden and surrounds (top floor and no lift though so we left our big bags in the car!). The shower was particularly excellent as my tall husband had been having issues with the low height of the shower head in most hotels! The location is great - about a ten minute easy walk to the centre of town and two ways you can go so you get a lovely round trip, which the front desk team told us about and we really appreciated. Plenty of good restaurants in walking distance. Breakfast was lovely - a full English cooked to order and a nice selection of fresh fruit and cereals etc. The only medium part was the parking on site as was a little bit crowded which made me nervous for our rental car - we were able to get a park but getting back out the next morning was a little tough! If you have a very big car you might struggle. Overall a great experience, good price for quality and would definitely stay again.

Stayed here as a couple - room was on the top floor and pleasant. The room is more a 3.5 than a 3. The side lights on the bed didn't work (we didn't mention it until check out as we didn't mind that much) and it was a bit windy so the windows did rattle throughout the night. HOWEVER it was clean, shower was lovely and bed was comfy. The breakfast was amazing (1 veggie/1 meat eater) and the staff were incredible. They couldn't do enough for you and were so wonderful. Good location, short walk to the centre and close to the stadium (we could see it from our window). Had some drinks at the bar which was very reasonably priced. Would stay again and recommend.

A lovely place to stay. A beautiful building, only about a 15 minute walk from the centre of Bath. Our room was very well appointed with a lovely rain shower in the bathroom. The only problem was with the TV, which didn't work, and we were given a complimentary drink in the bar to compensate. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful, with a choice of various cereals, fresh fruit and traditional or continental breakfasts. The staff were also very friendly and helpful, even loaning us an umbrella on one evening.

Not at all a 5-star hotel! The staff at this hotel is incredibly rude. I think they need to be trained in customer service. They aren’t working at a detention Center or customs or a school or hospital it’s a hotel where people go to enjoy themselves. The sink in the room was completely clogged. They had it fixed the next morning and instead of acknowledging it accused us of causing it asking if we shaved. There was someone’s finger nail, (see photo) on the bed frame which we told them about and was never removed. Was sick one evening with food poisoning and the lady at reception was perturbed that the breakfast was brought to the room only to see another tray in the hallway. Wouldn’t recommend, at all. In addition pictures are misleading the rooms are way older and dirtier than they look. Also when we booked the room showed a four poster bed but that’s not what we were given. Thankfully all our castle hotels the rest the trip were gorgeous and made up for the Bath experience.

We stayed for one night in room no.4 (the Chinese room), which catches your eye from the moment you enter. This room is at the front of the building by the car park and main road, but we didn't hear any noise during our stay. There is parking available but this comes on a first-served basis, so you may have to find parking away from the hotel. Some of the previous reviews have mentioned free parking but we were charged £10 on checkout. A breakfast will also cost you £18.95 each which we didn't partake in, and you cannot show up on the morning without pre-booking in advance. It's an approximate ten minute walk in to the city centre. Even with the additional car parking fee we found the Ayrlington to be good value, especially given the size of the room.
