The Roseate Villa Bath

I really wanted to love this place but unfortunately it flattered to decieve, I had a really good stay and as a result will not be too harsh but there were a number of niggly things which mean it really cant class itself as a 5 star establishment. I'll start with the bad and end with the good. We were told our room was an upgrade so really dont want to think what our original room would have been like. Our room was small, the bathroom really really tired and the bed was simply far too soft for me, I sunk into it and really didnt sleep well either night. The blinds on the window also felt cheap. On arrival the reception area is tiny and not befitting of a hotel, I dont use b and b's but if I did this is how I imagine they would feel like. I parked up in the car park, next to a skip which has bathroom stuff in it so expect our room is on the list to get a new bathroom. I really cant blame the hotel for this but unfortunately I noticed my car had been keyed when we left leaving me very upset, it hadnt moved and I am fastidious about this sort of thing so it must have been done in the car park. Also we were charged £40 to park from Friday evening to Sunday morning and that felt a bit steep for me. Reasons this hotel is not 5* - no fridge, no room service, poor bathroom, being asked to give a breakfast time the night before, having to ring a bell when back late, instant coffee in the room with sachet milk is not a good look. The breakfast was good but not excellent and the coffee was incredibly weak. We paid £410+parking for 2 nights which I didnt feel was value for money especially for mid January. All the above said, I would consider staying here again but would lower my expectations. On to the good, the staff are excellent, really friendly and couldnt do enough to help. The loaction is also excellent, just a short walk from the city centre. The orange juice at breakfast was also excellent. Despite the tired bathroom everywhere was spotlessly clean, the towels and pillows were also good and all staff came with a smile. I truly feel this hotel should drop the 5* claim and bill themselves as a (half) decent luxury bnb. I hope this honest review helps.

Wonderful stay, great afternoon tea and amazing breakfast. All staff fantastic and super focused on excellent customer service. Lovely room no 6, spotlessly clean and everything you could need . I must mention the amazing lady who checked us in, she was there at breakfast the following morning and took our order, brought the food out and was also there to check us out. Superb customer relations skills, the hotels own superwoman.
