Excellent budget hotel in a very convenient location. There is a shared kitchen available to prepare meals as well as a couple laundry machines. Daily housekeeping isn't included and is pricey if you opt for it, but you won't find a better value for your money in SF - I've stayed in worse places in the city that were more expensive...

This is a budget hotel and for the price you pay I think it's well worth it. Certain drawbacks like checking in round the corner and no free housekeeping are clear on the website and didn't bother us. The rooms are basic but very clean and the whole place feels safe and secure. If you're at the front (believe these are the ensuite rooms) you'll have some road noise but a cool view. At the back you look into a void with some light and fan noise. Either way it's not very noisy and I'm a light sleeper, but you're downtown in San Francisco, so it's not gonna be silent at any point. I understand most rooms have a ceiling fan, but ours didn't and unfortunately they couldn't provide one. Rooms also don't have a fridge by default but you can request one by availability, and we got one on the first day. The staff were without exception polite and helpful, sorting a few minor issues, bringing the fridge and saying hello in the mornings. The shared toilet and shower were also extremely clean and well looked after. There was never a wait in our experience but I'm not sure the hotel was that busy in November. Basic toiletries are provided in the shower. There is a shared kitchen and laundry. The kitchen lacks essential equipment, namely any kind of plate/bowl/cup/cutlery. Although it does have pans, a hob, an oven and a microwave. So you can cook the food but not eat it. I hope they spend literally $50 at IKEA round the corner to make this kitchen useful again. This was the one frustration we had. Overall a good stay and one we would recommend provided you know what you're getting. Location downtown cannot be beaten - you're a three minute walk to the cable car turntable and buses to all the major sights.

Floors and elevator smell like a mix of weg dog and homeless shelter - very intense. Only 1 towel per person for as long as you stay, even if that's a week. Have to buy your own toilet paper as room service will cost 50 USD (steep price for a roll of toilet paper IMO). Area poorly deteriorated. Despite the fact that the rooms had a makeover recently, room prices are way too high.

I had a great stay here. I found the location to be amazing & the room to be cute and quaint. You have to go into it knowing that it's a no frills place, shared bathrooms, no cleaning service (unless requested) AND that you pick up your keys at another hotel... which happens to be right down the street. Those tend to be complaints but it was all very clear to me from the get go. My room was on a high floor with a great view, bathrooms & showers were clean & I actually found it to be quiet on this floor. The location was great & close by to coffee shops, Walgreens & restaurants. Also easy to get to the bart. I will definitely stay here again!
