I have stayed in many hotels, from budget friendly to splurging, but this hotel has had the comfiest beds of them all. It was a delight sleeping in the hotel, in a room which was always left spotless and tight by the cleaning staff. Yes, the hotel is old and could use some good TLC, but you have to know what one is to expect for the price one is paying. The location is perfect - in a part of London which is not too loud at night, yet is in close distance to two major tube stations - Lancaster Gate and Queensway. The room itself was quite dated - especially the bathroom, which I think could be improved. However, one does not come to London to spend time in their room, but rather to explore, and therefore I wouldn't put too much focus on the look of the room. The breakfast did not include eggs, which was unusual, so I would recommend skipping it. The staff was extremely nice and very welcoming. The only real negative of this hotel is the undeniably slow elevator, which took ages to go up and down, and could not fit over 3 mid-sized people. A big bonus if you are a smoker is a private secluded garden with benches, which creates a unique homey atmosphere. Overall, the hotel is not exceptional, but I would argue it is amazing for the price you are paying, in such a desirable location. For me as a traveler, the bed is the most important part of the hotel experience, and Columbia hotel really positively surprised me when it comes to the sleeping experience.

Fabulous hotel to stay at if you want to be next to Hyde Park. Very friendly and accommodating staff in a quite relaxed environment. Also good to know that you can bring your dog without any fuss. Top location with parking facilities.

Stayed here for a week and was very impressed. Great service, great location, lots of character to the hotel without being run down. Loved the interior. Adequate, light breakfast buffet. Slept with the window open every night and there was no noise from the street. Obviously it’s not a 5 star hotel but in terms of value for money we were very impressed and we will be recommending this hotel to friends!
