Fantastic rooms high up in the sky. Large windows allow you to see the Shenzhen city and even part of Hong Kong. Thankfully got room upgraded. Very modern and clean room. Super kind and caring staff. The Italian restaurant (forgot the name) is high quality. They have a good selection of wine there.

Absolutely stunning from outside and rooms are nice too. However, there is no premium lounge, the 100 fl bar is open for president members and above. Only 1.5 hours per night and undesirable food and service. I was assigned a butler for the Aston suite. Never had a chance to meet my butler for 3 days’ stay. The lobby and reception service was good, restaurant was also good overall. However, the clientele are mostly the super rich Chinese. They are of a different breed. Super rude in every aspect.

I believe I am entitled to hold a hotel like St Regis to high standards typically expected of 5* establishments. So, this means benchmarking against other luxury brands like Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Shangri-la etc. First, the good things: the view is stunning - to have the lift climb 96 floors in a matter of seconds is surreal. Except for one big issue that I will describe below, the room is comfortably fitted out, with a largely great bathroom. St Regis SZ must be the only 5* hotel that I have been to, which does not have even a bidet spray in the toilet. Toilets in other 5* hotels would at least have a bidet spray if not a built-in Japanese-style bidet seat or a separate bidet. I can't even begin to describe how uncomfortable and inconvenient it is to use the toilet here. The service is efficient but cold and perfunctory. There is no warmth, no "we are so delighted you are staying with us" vibes. I had indicated my bed preferences in my booking, but they were not able to fulfill the request because they were running a full House, and I had arrived early in the morning outside office hours. Fair enough. The staff promised to have her manager call me the next day to look into my request. Well, no one called. There were no messages left on the phone in my room too. This is unbecoming of a 5* hotel. And if you are a true 5* hotel, you would not use products in your rooms that are clearly imitations of well-establsihed foreign brands- Evian and TWG. Have more pride, St Regis SZ.
