We were so impressed with Room Mate Giulia in Milan, that we immediately chose to stay in this branch in Istanbul. The hotel undoubtedly lives up to its beautifully stylish image and wonderfully quirky modern interiors that are so uniquely characteristic of the Room Mate group. However, a few things in our junior suite room 67 made our hotel stay a little disappointing because of a general lack of maintenance. I've listed below the problems in the bathroom with the water pooling outside the shower, & the clogged sink. It was not fixed all through our 5 nights stay. Our friend's in room 69 had a leaking sink which constantly dripped water to the shelf below. In our room, there was a big gap between the window and curtain, so the curtain cannot fully close at the bed room; the sun comes in full blast right into the right side of the bed. They only unusually provide one bottle of complimentary water, for two guests. Room mate Giulia provides 2 bottles per room. The fridge cabinet and other cabinets are not very well maintained. Worn out edges; magnet for the cabinet faulty. However, the staff were very friendly, but spoke very little English, so communication & assistance for directions was quite challenging. We asked to speak to the general manager, but the front desk staff seemed hesitant to even give his/her name. This is such a disappointing reflection of the hotel's branding and service; it's such a pity to have to give this hotel a poor review, especially bcos we love this hotel chain; but we hope you'll take these comments to make these improvements to raise the overall experience of someone staying in this room.

I stayed at Room Mate Emir Hotel and it was an impressive experience. It impressed me with its exceptional service, quality facilities and safety. A facility that deserves praise. I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the hotel. I'm definitely considering visiting again.

Good small, clean, quiet boutique hotel, good breakfast…variety of options, hotel setting is very confusing- it’s three different buildings adjacent to one another, it can get confusing especially when returning from a “fun” night- front desk staff was quite helpful though. Only one English speaking concierge/staff member so it’s best to either learn a few basic Turkish words or sign language. Overall- good hotel. I’d recommend, and I’d return mostly due to location.

The hotel is beautiful but the room was not up to scratch. The wifi was atrocious, cleaning was not to a great standard, as well as some other hiccups. The room was extremely spacious and I loved the set up (bedroom upstairs and living/work space downstairs) The staff were friendly and attentive but it was crucial for working wifi and during the week I stayed, there was not one evening where it worked well. I ended up using my international data.

Overall great, just a couple of 'misses'. Firstly I have to say the location is perfect. The hotel is just off the main walking street (Istiklal Street) my room was dead quiet and the drag club and strip clubs nearby that others have spoken about in their reviews didn't bother me at all (I didn't realise there even was a strip club for the first 3 days, until a man on the street asked me if I wanted to go and have a look). I booked a duplex room for 5 days and was very happy with the size and the layout, it was large and very comfortable. The hotel is lovely with a cool style, the breakfast is good value, the front reception employees are all helpful and nice. The bed and pillows are extremely comfortable, I had a great night sleep. A couple of small niggles... the internet to our room was absolutely terrible, so bad that my phone kept disconnecting and then using mobile data which in the end I had to buy more mobile data because of this, also I had to ask housekeeping for a couple of things that they should have just done, like toilet paper and to change my sheets once during my stay (there was not 'change my bed' card like I've seen in other hotels). Overall I would definitely stay here again however please if anyone reads this, the in-room internet needs to be vastly improved.
