We had a very nice night at Troya. It was too short, just needed a place before an early flight. But the location was great. Plenty of nearby spots and restaurants. The golden horn water front is just across the street. The rooms are very nice, and what you expect in an older building. Very clean and comfortable. Additionally there is a tram so very close. We would definitely return.

Loved staying here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs was excellent, and I didn't find it too loud. Though with the windows open, you will hear traffic from the street below. The view on the water was terrific and being so close to the Ecumenical Patriarchate and St. George's Cathedral was a huge plus. The free breakfast was also great! Will definitely stay there again.

we love the Troya Hotel! it's a beautiful historic hotel right at the edge of Balat neighborhood. There's so much character in the hotel, the owners are wonderful and very accommodating, the rooms are well appointed and cozy. The hotel is located across the street from Bus, Ferry, and Tram stops making public transport a breeze. Breakfast is excellent, though so is lunch and dinner at the ground-floor restaurant. This hotel is not accesible to those who are mobility-impaired, a staircase is the only means of access to the rooms, and though the staff will happily porter your bags you must be able to navigate the steps yourself. we hope to stay here again!

Quirky hotel in the Fenir district on the European bank of the Bospurus River in Istanbul. The good: 1. lovely, helpful staff - changed currency, ordered taxi etc. 2. Clean, characterful rooms, bit old-fashioned. 3. Nice touches such as toothbrushes in the bathroom. 4. Attached restaurant has some lovely food. 5. Metro and bus stops right outside the hotel. 6. Lovely views of the Bospurus River. 7. Right next to the characterful Fenir shopping district. 8. Nice, buffet breakfast included with a good variety, open till late in the morning for those adjusting to time differences. The bad: 1. thin walls carried sound from the adjoining rooms and above and below. Including lots of noise from the busy restaurant on the ground and some of the first floors. 2. Lots of traffic noise on the busy road next to the hotel. 3. Not very easy to get into the old town by public transport - tram does not connect to the old town centre, buses get stuck in roadworks and traffic gridlock; there is an infrequent ferry to across the bridge from the old town. We spent over an hour trying to get home from the old town centre and ended up stuck in a bus traffic gridlock nightmare two consecutive evenings on the weekend. I would probably stay in a different location in Istanbul for this reason alone until the tram extension works are completed which will connect this area to the old town. 6. The shower was quirkily located right next to the door to the room rather than in a bathroom, and unfortunately was not in good working order. Shampoo provided but no conditioner.

Charming retro style hotel. All staff and especially the hostess are amazing. Rooms have everything you need, and they are spotlessly clean. Breakfast is not of a big variety, but tasty. Wi-fi Internet just flies. Excellent!! Tips & tricks: if you want to change money, don't do it outside the hotel. The hostess will change it for you with zero comission. She just applies the rate what you see in internet.
