Firstly, the window in the room was broken and could not be closed properly. This resulted in a lot of noise from the street and made it difficult to sleep at night. Additionally, the blind could not be pulled down properly, which further added to the discomfort. Secondly, the room was not cleaned properly before my arrival. There were liquid marks on the walls and I found someone's dirty socks under the bed. This was extremely unpleasant and made me question the hygiene standards of the hotel. Thirdly, the bathroom and shower were tiny and located in the room with no ventilation or noise control. This made it extremely uncomfortable to use the facilities, especially if you're with a friend. The bathroom door also did not close properly, which further added to the lack of privacy. I also made a complaint about the tv not working in the tiny room 4 times and only on our last night at 10pm did they offer to change rooms. Would not rate this a 4 star at all. The bar is nice however the room facilities are below a 2 star.

I was visiting Edinburgh for 4 nights and arrived quite early. I was greeted warmly at the hotel in the morning. Was able to get an early check in, for an additional £20, which is a great price. The room was clean, modern looking, decent amount of space. Huge TV with Chromecast, so one can stream from their android device directly onto the TV. The bed was quite comfortable and had a button to change the incline. The toilet and shower are separated. The air conditioning worked great. Despite there not being a table, one side of the bed has a drawer like shelf, and a collapsible chair, which can be used for a desk alternative, saving up on space. The only drawback I can think of is the not-really-functioning mini fridge. The air inside was definitely not cold enough to store anything that requires low temperature. It also seemed very warm. The location of the hotel is superb. Walking distances to Sainsbury's and Tesco (for any snacking needs), train station, bus stops, fast food places, good restaurants, pubs.

Unfortunately our stay here was not the best. First thing we noticed when we arrived was the room was not cleaned very well, dirty sheets, floor, and shower. Customer service was not the best. The two different occasions we called the front desk to ask questions they did not seem like they even wanted to talk to us. The breakfast was ok. Definitely not the best but not the worst. First night we stayed there they held it in a really huge room with lots of space which was really nice. However, the last 4 days they held it in a tiny little cafe that wasn’t nearly big enough for the amount of people wanting to eat so a line would build up fairly quickly for people waiting to be seated. The location was only about a 20 minute walk to the castle however if we were to do it again we definitely would not have stayed here. There’s other hotels that offer the same amenities for the same price while also being much nicer.
