I booked this place for my parents. They were welcomed incredibly unfriendly and were treated terribly when checking in. The receptionist insinuated that my parents were terrorists because they took a while getting their ID out. In any case this entire experience ruined their stay at Abalu and we do not recommend going there as the staff showed an absolute lack of respect and distrust in their customers. We do not recommend this place to anyone!

Adored my stay at Abalu! The reception area was so cute, as were the rooms. I loved how the second I opened the door to my room, I was greeted by chic jazz tunes playing on the Alexa and little electronic candles glowing around the in-room jacuzzi. What an adorable touch! I absolutely adore exploring Madrid and Malasaña, so I surprised myself when I found myself heading back to the hotel a bit earlier than I excepted just because I was so excited to take in the vibe of the place for a few extra moments each evening. I think Abalu will become my official home away from home and I can't wait to return soon to its quirky chic vibe and friendly staff.

Very friendly staff, chic lobby and cute restaurant, and it’s nice to get the option of a jacuzzi in the room for a reasonable price. The room designs are quirky and comfortable but could use a bit of refurbishment (mainly our jacuzzi could do with regrouting and the mattress platform was a bit loose) but everything was clean and well presented. Coffee machine much appreciated. Our room was a good size and looked out into the centre of the building (no ‘view’) but this is common in Madrid and they’d added some stylish lighting.

service wasn't that great. made to wait past check-in time. asked to wait 30 minutes to get luggage while reception was on the phone with an internal matter. rooms were clean but a bit raggedy in the sense that the finishings were badly done: plaster coming off in a few places, carpet not neatly cut so as to fit with wall and parquet. dark rooms, almost no natural light, bright artificial lights over the bed make seeing a bit uncomfrotable, and i could hear the neighbor's radio loud and clear as of 7am. hot water came and went the neighborhood is great, i'll give you that, but the baroque decor, amateur service, and darkness of the place made it a below average stay considering the price of the rooms. i would recommend staying elsewhere

This hotel has a great location, only 8 mins walking to Gran Via. The rooms are just okay- we didn't have any view the it’s just nice for 2 people the TV had Netflix and Alexa which it’s great to have to some music for a romantic night. The food it’s just okay i thought it was a bit expensive for what they offered. Each Morning they left a goodie bags with some fruits and biscuits
