APA Hotels are always a good bang for buck, especially if you're traveling alone. This one in particular can often be found at prices close to the premium capsule hotels, making this a great deal. Service is excellent from check-in to the cleaners. Everyone is very nice and polite. They also serve a Japanese style breakfast in the morning from around 7 to 9:30am, but this time I did not go for it. The hotel lobby has a vending machine for drinks, but there is also a Lawson basically steps away diagonally from the hotel, so I've never had to make use of the lobby vending machine.

This is definitely not the same quality APA hotels that I have stayed in. I booked a double bed non-smoking room via Agoda, inside the room smells like someone who had been smoking inside yesterday as I am writing this review now. I did complain to the front desk staff, but nothing they can do except spraying deodorant inside the room. The air filter inside my room is terribly clogged, this is definitely not the usual Japanese quality of cleanliness. Last but not least, the mattress is very uncomfortable, I swear to god I feel like I am sleeping on top of a 20 year-old bed. Its surface it is not even, part of it is concaved in. The location wise of this hotel is fairly convenient and it’s close to a metro station, unless you don’t mind waking up with a broken back everyday otherwise I do not recommend you choosing this hotel which might end you helpless. Update* I just happened to flip the bed sheet up and found out that they have placed the mattress on the wrong side up. The bottom side which it’s supposed to be the top has yellow stain on it. (I suppose that’s why they purposely made the mattress upside down.)

My husband and I have stayed at many APA Hotels and this one was really not good. I don’t usually leave negative reviews but this stay was disappointing. The mattress was like a water bed, it had no support at all and I barely slept. The room was also not properly cleaned either during our stay or before. We arrived to find hairs all over the bed and it wasn’t pleasant. There was dust and mould everywhere and the carpet felt kind of dirty and sticky underfoot. I think the rooms could really do with some renovation and deep cleaning. The location is a short walk to Ikebukuro station and the Yamanote Line ticket gates which is super convenient, but you have to walk through Ikebukuro’s red light district to get there. This of course isn’t really the fault of the hotel and I didn’t mind it myself, but I don’t recommend the location for solo female travellers concerned about walking alone at night or male travellers who don’t want to be bothered by touts. On the plus side, the staff were lovely. I had a very nice conversation with a very sweet housekeeper and the lady who checked us in at the front desk was very kind, patient and polite. There are lots of convenience stores nearby and many good restaurants within walking distance so it’s pretty easy to find breakfast, snacks and dinner.

The room at this hotel was small, and the cleanliness was average. The sheets and overall quality were poor and very old, making me feel uncomfortable. The mattress was too soft, and when lying down, half of the bed would sink, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. Additionally, after 11 am, there was no cleaning service available, leaving the room feeling stuffy and unclean. Overall, my experience at this hotel was disappointing, and I would not recommend it to others.

I like the location, the breakfast, and the front desk staff. everyone working there was very patient and helpful. the rooms in general need a makeover, but especially problematic was my bed. the mattress had zero springs left and I didn't get any quality sleep during my stay there. it seems a hotel should focus on making sure it's guests can sleep so I wouldn't recommend staying here more than 2 or 3 nights.
