JR-East Hotel Mets Mejiro

It goes without saying that being a hotel owned and operated by the Japanese, the service at this hotel is amazing. Please don't compare it to the Park Hyatt or the likes; this is not a luxury hotel but a 3 star hotel per Japanese standards. I want to point out the level of service here far exceeded my expectations. I was here for 6 nights in the beginning of December. I was thinking about having a package sent here so I sent them an email in the middle of November to find out if they would accept a package for me. They replied in kind but I decided not to send a package. 2 days into my stay, I receive a letter under my door letting me know that I had inquired about if I can get a package sent but till today, there has been no package sent for me and if I could confirm if I will still be receiving one. This level of attention to detail you don't get even in the 5 star hotels around the world. My trip was pleasure. Just came to visit my old friends, enjoy the food that I miss so much and visit the old sites and some new ones. Location wise, you just can't beat this I think especially if you are the type who packs heavy and then buy more and go back heavier. It is literally AT the train station. The room I was in was a standard single room with a queen bed (I had opted for a queen bed). It is a very basic room and I believe it is about 119 or 149 square feet. Something like that so it's really basic. I was able to work the nights comfortably enough though. They have a laundry machine (you do NOT need to buy separate detergent as the machine automatically adds it to your load), shared microwave. You get your daily toilettries (soap, shampoo, etc.) in big bottles that are in the bathroom which is becoming standard around the world. For the tinier things like disposable shaving razor, hand/body cream, etc, you pick up those yourself from the Lobby as and when you need it. There is a self serve coffee service 24/7 in the lobby and honestly, it is not bad (Way better than the gas station coffee in the US. Way way way better) It's located about 400m from my favorite curry shop and other restaurants, there are several convenience stores closeby. All in all, I love this hotel and I think this is going to be my base in Tokyo whenever I come.
