Breakfast was poor, cook wouldn't even respond when I asked for butter; other guests had to holler to get bread & boiled eggs. Menemen was cold on steam table, & if guests want hot water, they must carry it from lobby in a tea cup. TV remote didn't work, hallway light sensor ensures a creepy walk in the dark, & there was no umbrella so I could see museum across the street. Manager kindly switched reservation date & gave me a bright corner room, but the rest was not worth the cost.

I give Atalla Hotel a solid one star for its location near the old town. Tell you about the rest in order. So, I arrived at the hotel closer to the night, I could not settle for about 20 minutes, as there was some problem (probably they didn’t have my reservation in the base). In the end, because of the lack of rooms I was put on the 7th floor (the last one), and the lift only went to the 6th floor. Obviously, nobody helped me with my luggage and I dragged it up the stairs myself. The furniture in the room was in a sloppy state. There were also two single beds with unclean sheets (some hair, stains) which was absolutely disgusting. The bathroom was very small, there was no hot water in the shower and the sink had little pressure. The shower was dirty. In general, being in such a place was completely unpleasant. On the third day in the evening I discovered a lovely neighbor in my room… Thanks to the manager so much for changing my room and giving me tea as I am insanely scared of cockroaches. Also told me that it crawled in from the balcony. The next room I got was on the 4th floor, there was one double bed and one single bed. The sheets were just as dirty as in the previous room. I decided to check this room at once for critters and looked under the beds... It would be better if I didn't do it, as if no one had ever cleaned there, you can find a lot of interesting things, but thank God I didn't find cockroaches. There was also a cigarette on the front doorstep. In general, cleaning in this hotel is a big problem. Before checking out I found a dead spider on the table, apparently even he could not survive in such conditions. During my stay in the hotel (8 nights) my room was never cleaned, although I asked to change the sheets. Now a little about breakfast. The canteen is located in the basement, the choice of food is quite poor. The dishes were not particularly clean. And also after the incident with a cockroach I could not be there at all, too squeamish. I would also like to share a story about another person staying in my room. My friend was coming to stay with me for a couple of nights. I asked at reception how much it would cost for an extra guest, given that I was already staying in a double room. There was a woman who knew a couple of phrases in English, so she explained to me on a piece of paper that I would have to pay 1000 lira per night (800 lira for one, 1000 for two), justifying that there would be two of us. Just in case, this is the price for a new room. My explanations that I already had a room and that I had already paid for myself, she didn't take it at all and just told me to come back in a couple of hours and talk to the manager. The manager's English was a little better and he had already quoted me a price of 800 lira, saying that this was standard procedure at the hotel. When I started to explain that it is logical that I should just pay the difference in price for one and two guests, that is 200 liras, he looked at me like a fool, and agreed to 750 liras, so to speak he made a discount. Of course, I was not shown any documentation with prices and "standard" hotel procedures. I had to pay this price... Also, on the last day my friend had to check out at 12 (check out), although I still had the room, and after that moment the staff in the lobby was watching his every move. God forbid he would’ve gone upstairs! He was also approached by an unknown man (most likely the man who helps with luggage) after we had been sitting in the lobby for quite some time. Basically, he said that my friend could not go upstairs under any circumstances due to security purposes as they didn't have his passport. Considering that he had already stayed a couple of nights in this hotel and they have all the necessary information about it. Apparently, people have nothing to do at work... TOTAL: it was my worst holiday experience in the hotel. I hope that the hotel staff will think about what conditions and atmosphere in the hotel which they created and start to improve them. I wish them prosperity as soon as possible!

We stayed there for 7 nights in July. I booked it through the famous booking app. We had a room with two single beds. I can accept them having old and poorly maintained furniture but uncomfortable beds and poor cleaning are no go for me! For this price I’ll book an apartment the next time. The only good thing about this hotel was its location; the receptionists were helpful; the check in was fast. That’s all advantages. When we arrived the room was dirty, in particular: - the toilet seat was wet and not clean - there were some yellow stains on the toilet walls, one big stain next to my bed, with dust particles on it; the bedside table had stains as if something was spilled on it; the bed sheets had two small stains. They were worn out with threads on the sides and too short so that they couldn’t be tucked under the mattress. One mattress had burnt cigarette hole. When we laid on the bed, we could feel all the sprains which were really hard. It was impossible for us to sleep on the stomach as it felt like sleeping on a hard ground. Some areas of the mattresses would sink when we tried sitting on them (there were no chairs in the room therefore we had no choice of where to sit). What shocked me was the cleaner who came to clean the toilet bowl when I asked. She angrily took one white HAND TOWEL and used it to clean the toilet bowl. She cleaned the stains I pointed to but it was the first and last time she cleaned our room during our 7 nights stay. We had to use our bags for the garbage and leave them outside of the room. There AC engine at the little balcony of the room was surrounded by dust and garbage. We checked another room, but the dust around and under the AC engine was the same meaning they normally don’t clean them. There was no bottle of water and toilet paper. I had to ask for the paper. Luckily we had the water with us. They don’t provide kettle, when we asked for boiled water two kind staff members were nice to give it to us so we could make our own tea. The third one refused saying it’s only in the morning when they serve breakfast. The door of our room was sagging therefore we had to use force to open it. The breakfast was poor, but it had the basics: feta cheese, sliced tomatoes, fried sausages, boiled eggs, jam, tea and coffee. It’s served from 8am to 10am, but most of the options are finished by 9am. It’s on the minus floor, the lift doesn’t go there so you’ve got to take the stairs. The furniture is very old and maintained very poorly. The mini fridge was old and didn’t cool down the food properly.
