Just to help people out so they have a more modern point of reference for this place: 1. Many people say Chungking Mansions is dangerous, I have had no one bother me my stay here and never felt like I was in any kind of danger. The reception for Australian Guest House is also very friendly. 2. This place is a great value, in the literal since you get what you pay for and nothing more. It’s placed in a great location for Hong Kong with a lot of history. 3. Now to get to some of the bad stuff; The hallway smelled strongly of spices to the point where it was unbearable to breath for too long, the room itself however smelled slightly better. 4. The room is very small, this accommodation would be best strictly for sleeping. 5. My room was not cleaned well upon entry; there was black mold on the ceiling, fridge had leftover ramen that had sat in the fridge so long that black mold had grew all around it and released a pungent smell whenever you opened the fridge. There was also dried blood on my pillow. The lockbox also doesn’t work, it’s just a massive paperweight. 6. Shower often, the sanitary conditions overall surrounding the area are gross, there are rats that roam some of the floors at night. Also the smell of the building sticks to your clothes. 7. The main thing that was absolutely too hard to bear was the issue with the AC, I went during summer and the room felt far hotter than outside. I would be dripping sweat just trying to lie down. It made it very difficult to sleep. So overall, if you’re looking to save money to the fullest extent and need somewhere to sleep that provides you with bare minimum accommodations, this place will be alright, but don’t plan to stick around the room longer than that or you will quickly become uncomfortable.

Stay for 1 night, location is nice but hotel is poor room poor service. The staff are not friends, and the water heater in the room is broken and also i saw cockkroach

It's a unique experience to stay in this unbelievably crowded locality of Hong Kong. Located inside the crazily crowded Guest House complex, biggest problem is the availability of lift to get to your floor. It will be quicker to get by stairs at anytime of the day. Though it has the smallest of rooms you ever get to stay, they have comfortable beds that make up for other flaws. One of the cheapest options to stay in heart of the city. One should plan to stay in Chucking Mansion just for the experience.

If you just need a place to sleep in the middle of everything, then this is the place to be. It's cheap and straight-forward non-pretentious rooms. The issue here are the lifts. Long queue wastes time plus you have to go down first to ground floor before you get to upper floors if you want to check out. Guests can only get one keycard , unless you request. You also have to deal with smell in the area and the mess. However, for every cons, there are pros. Location is perfect. Exchange rate is better than others. You get strong wifi. It's easy to talk to people. Would i recommend? Yes if you don't want to spend. You pay what you get.

Small Rooms but in a Prime Position to Explore Hong Kong Australian Guest House is in Nathan Road and located in the Chung King Mansion, where every floor has Guesthouses. It is On the last 17 Floor. The Rooms are small, but it has a safe, a free quick WIFI, Air Conditioning and Color TV, but no windows. If there is a window you look into more plumbing jobs you ever seen. Toilet and Shower are together as in most cheap places in Hong Kong. Coffee machine and microwave are on the Floor outside. The Reception is very helpful and friendly. On the first Floor of Chung King Mansion there are Money Changers and Eating Places and to get a cheap Sims Card. It is very Central, and next to the MTR Tsim Sha Tsui. +perfect location (aprt from the hotel area) +cheap +staff was alright -very very small room -you spend a lot of time waiting for the lift every day -no window
