I stayed here for 3 nights. I was a little skeptical because of the reviews but thankfully I have had no problem. As a solo traveler, the room was the perfect size for me. It was clean, fresh sheets and towels, no smell. The location is great, close to the train station and easy to get back to from anywhere in Venice. A quiet and relaxing hotel after a long day of walking and joying Venice. The staff has been very welcoming, kind and hard working. My only complaints would be the breakfast! The breakfast room is very small and a bit uncomfortable for me. There weren’t many options besides the basics. Buffet style can be a little unhygienic in my opinion too. Besides that, I enjoyed my time here.

Beautiful hotel conveniently located just five minutes to the Santa Lucia train station. Wonderful friendly staff. Room was appointed with many extras including robe and slippers. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The highlight of our stay was the outstanding breakfast. Really made our stay in Venice special.

- The hotel is full of food smell. The room has food and sewer smell. - The room is really small and old not like in photo. - The bathroom is tiny and smelly. - The receptionist staffs are not friendly and supportive. - The rate is high compared to actual facilities and service. Maybe 3 star not 4 star hotel.

The worst hotel I have ever been to. The only good thing about the hotel is the location. When we checked in, we were given a room on level 4 and told we need to climb A FEW stairs. However the elevator only goes to level 3 and we carried our heavy luggage and climbed the narrow stairs for a whole floor. The room was filthy. The bedsheet and pillows are very dirty. When we realised this at night before we go to bed, we were told there were only 1 staff so we need to go downstairs get new bedsheets, and change them ourselves. We did it because it was too dirty, but this is so funny for a 4 star hotel. The day after we left, I found my skin itchy and there were rashes on my legs which never happened to me before. So disgusting.

Proximity to the train station made arrival and departure from Venice a breeze. We saw people who had to drag their luggage through narrow streets, over bridges or via boat, and were so glad we decided to stay at the CHC Continental. The hotel entrance is off to the side, leading into an unassuming lobby. Silvia greeted us and took care of our paperwork, and addressed every question we had before we even asked. We think she can read minds. Luggage was brought up to our room, and our bellman proceeded to open the curtains, window, and balcony, which truly added to the experience. We prefer to book the upgraded room for most of our lodging but were actually impressed by the size and elegant simplicity of room 246. Pictures on the website are true to form and not overstated, which is not often the case. Our balcony opening up to the Grand Canal is definitely a wow factor. Our only complaint, which is quite minimal, is that there were a lot of mosquitos in our room. But to be fair, those things are everywhere if the conditions are right. Although we kept our window and balcony closed, they had somehow infiltrated our room and went to town on us through the night. My wife, for some reason, always gets the worst of it. Poor her, lucky me, I guess... If they can install a bug lamp in the room, that would be a possible solution. Additionally, the showers can stand to be updated. In the end, this hotel offers excellent rooms and services befitting of a four star hotel. The location worked out very well for us, but keep in mind it is a 30-minute walk to Saint Marks Square. We did the walk multiple times and never felt tired due to all the beautiful sights and scenes along the way.
