Circa 1905

Superb stay at this fantastic boutique hotel which is located in a very nice and safe area with plenty of restaurants near by and high end shops. Breakfast provided in the morning had a good selection of bread, pastries and cereal available. Only slight improvement would recommend is the seating if all the guests want to eat at same time is not the most practical although good quality and in keeping with the premises. All the staff we dealt with were extremely accommodating. The room we booked was based in the middle of hotel with an interior patio for sole use of the room. The room was clean and tidy and patio was nice area (would have liked the opening door to have frosted glass like other glass but can understand if not possible either). Half way through out stay we sat into another room that was vacant and really liked the look due to being more spacious and mainly having sunlight and balcony. At the time they were finishing refurbishment to the front room of hotel therefore once finished we transfered at slightly more cost to another room. This was done an amicable and respected attitude by the staff, in fact I could not have asked for more. This is not to say the original room was not to standard either just more of an upgrade, which is common in all hotels to have different standard rooms. If we return to the city would definitely look to stay again. Thank you for making our 1st wedding anniversary break feel even more special.

I'm here now and just have to give my review before we leave because the experience has been so wonderful! The term “Boutique Hotel” does not do it justice. Our room is one with a balcony - a small terrace. Floor-to-ceiling doors - windows let in light and fresh air. These are in the traditional style but modernized. Double-spaced glass block any unwanted noise from the upscale street below. There are actually two separate of these window doors thus eliminating all street noise. On top of that there is a third set of doors that also slide closed. In other words, picture the traditional opening door windows and add two more sets of sliding window doors! There is space on the balcony and two padded chairs to sit and enjoy the neighborhood. The hotel is in a very upscale neighborhood a block off of Passeig de Gracia and La Pedrera-Casa Mila. Wonderful restaurants abound. Locals don't stay up all night getting drunk and rowdy, as we have experienced in other neighborhoods. Our room is tastefully decorated with antique furniture from the era of “1905” The bed is fully modern, pillowy soft, and American king size. Even the bed linens are upscale. The bathroom is large with a large modern shower and bath amenities. There is a coffee bar and Nespresso machine available 24/7. The breakfast is beyond what we call “Continental” in the USA. It includes yogurts, fruits, cereals, juices, all types of cheeses, hams, etc. Croissants, breads and toaster with cultured butter and jams. American style brewed coffee is also available in addition to the espresso. Today there was also slices of Tortilla Espanola. I know there were still other items I overlooked in the abundance offered. The staff, including Teodora and the owner Maria, we're quite helpful. This morning in my haze, I could not operate the Nespresso machine properly and the lovely young woman setting up breakfast patiently showed me twice how to use it. Don't be fooled by the very few bad reviews here. They are laughable. I am glad management does not allow drunk and loud behavior. I slept “like a baby” without a single sound from an adjoining room. I am not a shill. We are American tourists from California with no affiliation with this property. Check out my reviews from home to verify. You can not go wrong by booking this hotel! UPDATE: When we were checking out to catch a taxi to the airport and home to SFO the owner insisted that we leave our bags at the door of the building. She then went with me to the corner to flag down a taxi, and instruct him in Catalan to take me the 1/2 block back to the hotel to pick up my wife and luggage and to then take us to the correct terminal at El Prat. She thought it unwise to roll our bags down the block to Passeig de Gracia where catching a taxi would be easier. I felt truly loved! I have never experience such thoughtful service from a hotel.
