The resort is gorgeous, rooms luxurious and the staff is truly lovely. Here’s what I wish I knew before I stayed, and why we wouldn’t return. 1 - the beach club that is attached to the hotel plays extremely loud club music all afternoon. You can hear it thumping from every corner of the hotel. Our room was above the club and it was unbearably loud. Great if you love club music, not great if you like afternoon naps. 2 - This family friendly hotel was swarming with children. Perhaps it was the week we were here (end of January), but there were so many, many kids under the age of 10. Great if you have kids, less great for peace and quiet. 3 - the beach and the pools were absolutely packed. This was my 10th trip to Mexico and I’ve never stayed somewhere with this many people. Great if you love crowded beaches, less so if you like solitude. So, as you can see - none of these is inherently bad, I just wish I would have known before I booked, and perhaps this will help others who are evaluating this property.

Stayed here twice and decided to leave a review as to why I am looking elsewhere for the third PDC stay. The location is the best thing about the hotel! Central and convenient. Staff was pleasant though they handled a high volume of guests. The rooms are nice and spacious but somewhat worn. This is where I see no value: the pool area is a scam. You pay for the hotel thinking you have access to facilities but they sell day passes and it gets very crowded. You get stressed about claiming a spot at 8am. If you are lucky enough to get chairs, it takes at least 40min to an hour to get mediocre drinks and food, after you get the attention of a waiter. The restaurant is now all inclusive and the offerings looked measly compared to the decent tacos of yesteryear. To top it off, loud music plays non stop. Should you happen to be there during a wedding, your chances of enjoying the pool are even slimmer.

I cannot recommend this hotel due to the potential of injury caused by the elevators. Additionally, it is worth mentioning that there is an open air club - playing loud dance music with a heavy bass - under half of the ocean front rooms. It is not owned by the hotel and they have no control over the music volume. The club operates from 12pm-7pm. Regarding the elevator, my pregnant wife and I entered the elevator on 1/7/24, and the power immediately cut out - the heavy elevator doors slammed shut forcefully (no safety mechanism in case there was an arm in the way or something), the elevator dropped a bit, and the lights turned out. Within a minute the lights turned back on, but the elevator was stuck - unresponsive to any button presses etc. We tried to use the emergency line to call for help multiple times, it rang but no one picked up. Eventually, through a series of button presses and tiny movements by the elevator, we were able to get off one floor below where we started. When I spoke to the front desk later, they said they never received any emergency calls. They also said the elevator doors were not supposed to slam shut. They informed me they would be opening an investigation. Additionally, they informed that this was not the hotel’s responsibility because it was a “common space” but rather the elevator company’s responsibility - which was very disappointing to hear. They did ask after my wife and I to make sure we were well. There were two power outages that weekend - I can’t speak to the elevator’s behavior in every case but it seems like a matter of time before someone is seriously injured. No one ever contacted me as they claimed they would.
