Ember Locke Kensington

Overall: perhaps it is a new hotel that lacks experience. Currently, many other places provide much better quality and much better services for same amount of money in the same location. - Check in process: The check in process took a long time. As the initial reserved room (which took weeks to arrange via emails and phone calls) was unavailable. - Accommodation/amenities: The rooms are extremely small. The kitchen has a microwave, sink, and small stove, which is useful (but sometimes we have faced issues with getting it to work). No wardrobe is available. The lighting is very dim and rooms are quite dark. The bathroom in the room had maintenance issues for several nights, the hotel suggested that we use a different bathroom in a different room for several nights while staying in our original room!! (one night the bathroom was on a different floor!). Bathroom has only essentials (soap, shampoo, and conditioner). No vanity kit was provided. No robes or slippers are provided. Sometimes the water stops for several minutes. In the rooms, no drinking water is provided. No tissues are provided. Only toilet paper upon request. - Cleaning: Cleaning is only provided once a week. This was not mentioned when we reserved our room (which would greatly affect our decision to proceed with booking). We were told that additional cleaning requires additional costs. When requested; we were told that additional cleaning is not feasible/available. Even though cleaning is provided only once weekly, we were surprised that beds were not made/changed, trash not taken out etc. - Safety: Overall the hotel is quite safe and we have not faced any issues. There is a safe in the room. However, there is no security at the front door and no cameras in hallways. The front door is open at all times (but we were told that it closes at nighttime). - Location: The location of the hotel is acceptable. It is near great coffee shops and a supermarket. A station is about 10 minutes walk.
