We stayed at Great Western for a romantic getaway. Our room looked out over the water, and I have to say that it was a spectacular view. Cracking a window allowed the sounds of the waves to wash over the room at night, which is seriously the best type of white noise one could hope for. The room itself was well laid out, but it definitely showed its age. The bed was fairly comfortable, and there were plenty of places to sit. The bathroom was great, with a big tub allowing for amazing baths (the water was a great temperature!) - a plus for both of us. The breakfast was delicious, as was the coffee. Service was top notch, starting from the front desk to the rest of the staff. Everyone was so friendly. Finally, it's worth noting that the location puts you within walking distance of many attractions, and there are even stairs down to the beach just to the rear of the hotel. I'd love to go back someday.

An absolutely amazing hotel that while doesn’t look appealing on the exterior, surprises and greatly exceeds expectations on the inside The reception staff make your stay as enjoyable as possible while promoting Newquay and suggesting great places to eat and visit. Jade was brilliant along with another female receptionist who recommended going to Whiskers for live music. We were incredibly impressed with the rooms. We were assigned a Superior Coastal room with its own living area. Housekeeping each day made the room up like new and even surprised the teddy with some biscuits! It is not often you can actually credit the housekeeping team in a hotel but they went over and beyond With it being freezing outside the heating worked perfectly. While some small maintainer issues with the window and the water pressure this did not detract any credit away from the overall stay. Breakfast each morning was delicious and homemade, the breakfast bap, pancakes and full English are highly recommended. A small continental selection complimented the choice well. The restaurant overlooked the beach and we got a great table each day. Dinner in the evening and Sunday carvery was also exquisite and resembled true Cornish food. The menu is the same as The Fort which is also part of the same group down the road which also delivered amazing food with great views (suggestions while there). Overall, absolutely nothing to negatively say, and the hotel along with the staff treated you like true family. Worth every penny. Will recommend to anyone who wishes to visit Newquay.

Couldn't find the place at first as lighting had gone on the external sign. Reception staff were lovely on check in and check out. Lift didn't have any lights, had to use our phones. Hallways tired and need a revamp. Room was also tired, wall lights dis not work, lots of switches, brass ones and white ones!! Either stick to brass or stick to white light switches. Tray was stuck to the table due to not being cleaned... Would prefer satchets of sugar/tea/coffee as someone has handled these to put them in the jar.. Heavens knows where there hands have been feom cleaning the room before filling the very small jars with the loose tea bags and sugar cubes. Biscuits were quality and the hot chocolate, not aure why there was proper cups and takeaway cups on the tray. Bathroom new and clean, quality bath towels, probably the best provided by any hotel so far. Bed sheets crisp and fresh just as you should expect but leave the cushions off.. Not needed. Lovely jewellery at great prices on display in reception.. It was good for us as an overnight stay. Would try somewhere else before I would rebook.

Stayed for 2 nights celebrating our Anniversary 44 years on from being here for our honeymoon. All staff made a fuss over this which was nice. Spectacular sea view from our bedroom window. Amazing sea views from most areas of the hotel. The breakfast was superb. A brilliant team, starting at reception (Michelle/Jane) and with every member of the bar staff/waitresses in the breakfast room/steam Bar. They make this hotel.
