Location is very nicely located just a minute walk to the lake through the tunnel Room is a bit old but clean enough, no bidet though :(

My friends tried to book a car from hotel to airport. The hotel people told them it costs 550 rmb which is a completely ripoff. Should only takes around 100 rmb.

I've seen many low rating comments talking about how the authenticity is nowhere near France or Europe's Sofitels. However, I may remind you that this is China, you cannot expect everyone to speak English or French and as long as they provide good service, there shouldn't be a problem. My stay in Sofitel was personally absolutely amazing as the service there was outstanding. The staff were friendly and were much help when I asked for directions to a nearby mall and they even accompanied me there to show me the way. This has been one of the best hotels I have encountered in my life so far. Thank you for the amazing service and stay.

Hotel location and rooms were great. We got an upgrade so the room was fantastic. Had 2 vanity sink, separate shower, tub and toilet. But service was questionable. Concierge service wasn't very helpful and gave the feeling that they are trying to encourage us to take up tours or outside car hire and get commission out of it. I understand that China has a no tipping policy. Housekeeping leaving little notes on writing pads are great personalise service. We left some money to see how sincere the service was but was disappointed. Notes was written everyday. Overall service, disappointment.

The inside of the hotel was very nice, and the breakfast buffet was restaurant quality. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and well designed. The roofs and outside walls were pretty dirty though, made worse by the fog/smog that completely blocked out the view of West Lake the entire time we were there (through no fault of the hotel, obviously). Otherwise, the hotel leads right to the walking path around the lake, which was very nice.
