Don't waste your money. Front desk staff was rude from start to finish. For the money we paid, it lacked all hospitality. I'm too annoyed to go into the details about how this person talked down and also lied to me and my partner. I feel we were talked differently to because we are queer and biracial. On top, they charge for parking and it is not even valet or covered parking. Breakfast isn't included and they charge $2 for every extra K-cup you use. They choose to charge a transient tax. There is no air ventilation in the bathrooms. The best thing about this place were the toiletries. Upon receipt, the charges on our credit card statement did not match what was on the bill. I recommend another place. I know the Hilton brand isn't as good as it used to be, but c'mon! I have never felt so unwelcome and we paid good money to stay here. I will never ever be back to this place. Bad vibes!

Pros: My AC was not working on the first day, but maintenance fixed the issue satisfactorily. The property was fairly quiet and private. Cons: Most staff were either rude or non existent at the front desk. I even heard the manager laughing on the phone in the back office, completely oblivious that there were several customers waiting at the counter. There's not a way at the front desk to get anyone's attention in the back office without shouting. I would at least recommend a bell or pager service. It's not even worth attempting to call from the room when no one answers to begin with. I should preface this next statement with the fact I am not familiar with California's water conservation laws, but although I did make requests for maid services and clean towels each day, I never received these services any day of my stay. Instructions were also not disclosed up front. The fire alarm also went off 3 times, once in the evening on my second day and twice on another night at 4 and 5 AM while we were all asleep... staff seemed unfazed even though the fire department came out each time to investigate. It was clear there was no attempt to fix this issue.

Nice hotel for the price! Facilities appear newer and the rooms were clean. Located in a quiet, safe neighborhood. What made this particular hotel stand out was Diane, one of the receptionists. She was an absolute joy. She had such a welcoming attitude and always had a bright smile on her face. She provided us with a list of activities/places to see in San Diego that she had compiled herself. Her bubbly personality really made us feel welcome at the Hilton and made our stay that much more enjoyable.
