Hotel Art Resort Galleria Umberto in Naples offers a decent accommodation option for travelers looking to experience the city's heart. While it may not boast extravagant luxury, it provides a comfortable and convenient base for exploring Naples. I'd like to call out Francesco, he was amazing, very friendly and offered lots of advice on where to visit nearby. He also made a great welcome cappuccino for us. Considering its central location, Hotel Art Resort Galleria Umberto offers decent value for money. It's a solid choice for travelers who prioritize location and convenience over lavish amenities.

Pros: The location was great and it was easy to walk to the castle, the ferry, and many other places. The hotel was very pretty. Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good and had several options. The room was large and had enough storage. They had some bottled water and snacks in the room for us. They arranged transfers from the airport and to the train station for us. Cons: There were 160ish steps up. Bring 10c for the elevator or get them from the front desk. The power went out twice while we were here, not the hotel's fault, it's a old building, that I can get over. The hot water went out for about 24 hours. A hot shower is expected when someone if paying to stay somewhere. It was resolved and wasn't an issue for us again. The comforter had a stain on it and was not replaced. The bed did not have a head board, but a low painting so if we sat up in bed we were bumping into this large painting. The cons do not outweigh the pros. This is a nice hotel. We would recommend staying here.

Stayed here from 13 - 17 Jun, 2023. Overall impressions: Pros - Rooms (esp. the suites) are big and spacious. - Great & helpful frontdesk personnel on first day of check-in. - Located inside the Galleria mall, a convinient location. Cons - Parking or even dropping-off for few minutes is a nightmare, due to city's poor planning. - Our suite room 406's big & could have accomodated 3 persons instead getting 2 rooms, which's costly & wasted. - Room 407 was directly under the restaurant. So early morning you'd hear people dragging their chairs. - Housekeepers could have been more discreet. By early morning 5am you already hear them moving stuffs beside your room & at times talking loudly. - Depending on luck, some front desk personnel can be underwhelming without much common senses. E.g. hotel elevator's operated by coins, which's novel at first but soon gets tired for its inconvenience. You have to specifically tell the reception to give you more coins as they'd have no clue based on the obvious check-in / out dates. - Hotel surrounding inside the mall spoilt by homeless individuals. You wouldn't feel safe at night by venturing around the area.

The hotel location is so nice that you might accept this as a resort. You have to carry your luggages “by yourself” from outside of gallery to the reception 100m distances without any help. “Difficult to find” small sign hangs on the old iron fence, the old lift with 10 cents coin brings you to the fourth floor reception. Congratulations, finally you reached the destination, “resort hotel” hide away. And remember that you should bring your luggage by yourself again the same route after check out. Sorry no bellboy service here. Recommend you had better to be equipped small carry bag or backpack.

This hotel would be an adequate 3 start hotel but it is not a 4 star hotel. The hotel is clean, the front desk is helpful, and the free breakfast has many options. But the lighting is harsh, decor is dated, rooms off the mall are noisy during the day (more understandable) and at night due to teenagers in the mall (unpleasant), there is no shower (just a tub and handheld wand), and the HVAC unit is noisy/not effective. It's just not worth the price I paid ($250 per night).
