We had a great stay here! We stayed in the recently renovated biggest suite with a jacuzzi and large terrace view--it was lovely and a great price compared to other hotels with the same type of room in Positano. The view is beautiful (not the best in Positano but it is still very memorable and gorgeous). The service was incredible! They normally bring breakfast from 7:30 onwards, but we had a couple of early mornings and they graciously accommodated us--even without us having to ask. They truly care about each guest, and my husband and I are were really touched by their kindness. The only negative is that it is at the very top of the Positano hill, so you have to walk up and down several hundred stairs to get to the main areas--including the beach and major restaurants. However, because it is off the main road, you can walk the road instead. Overall, 5/5 stay and we would highly recommend. We hope to be back ourselves!

Good hotel, nothing super-fancy, yet, all necessary amenities and services are there, including 24h front desk. Friendly service all the way through. It can be a little loud in the morning from the floors above, so get your earplugs. Parking is expensive, but it's way more convenient than dropping off your car somewhere else. Hotel is on the one-way street, it helps during traffic. Walk to the port and beach can be challenging during hot weather.

We stayed at Il Gabbiano for 6 nights. The location is great for Positano as you have direct street access and don't need to carry luggages down / up any stairs. We had a room with balcony and the view is priceless. Every morning we got breakfast on the balcony and were able to select amongst multiple options among which were great fruits bowls and Cappuccino with vegan milk. Overall, everyone was very friendly. The room and bathroom were clean but for the price very small and a bit outdated. We would definitely come here again but rather during off season to justify the price of the room.

If I can put zero star I will! We were there for 3 days, every nights was a terrible experience it’s very loud and you can smell the smoke from the next door! The afternoon there is some workers downstairs who pierce and hit the wall with hammer. I warned the owner woman who did not want to hear anything. The first day we had a room sea and big wall view on the side that you couldn’t see the city and lights. For the expensive price it was not possible for the price to watch this wall so we asked to change the room. the evening the dog of the owner's daughter barks as soon as it hears a noise. The electricity was cut at midnight so the big security projectors light us twice at midnight and 4 a.m. with an huge noisy alarm that woke up my baby. I told this to the owner who said « but the projector light is for the other guest, like this they are not in dark » ( but at midnight nobodies need big projector light in their face madam) We also ordered at the hotel snack bar, it was expensive for 2 tomatoes and a slice of mozzarella! I DON’T recommend this hotel the owner is not pleasant at all, bedrooms are old, bed is small and not comfortable. Le parking is expensive too. There is so many places less expensive better view and location that this one. The owner never make any commercial gesture for the inconvenience caused. The only positive point was the kindness of her daughter and husband.
