The sole positive about Hotel Roma is its proximity to the main square (Piazza Maggiore). Beyond that, the quality and customer service of this hotel are sub-par, and not at all aligned with their claim to be a 4-star establishment. The first issue was that we never received a reply to our pre-arrival email requesting assistance with local reservations during our stay—a sign of what was to come. When we arrived, our room was tiny, dark, poorly appointed, and not well-maintained. While we know not to expect grandeur in most European hotels, the cost was certainly not a budget option ($550 for 3 nights). Nonetheless, we were greeted with stained walls and ceilings, dirty towels and linens, extremely uncomfortable twin beds, and a lack of basic amenities that are standard in 4-star hotels (e.g. qtips, conditioner, or body lotion). To add insult to injury, the staff was cold overall, and even blatantly rude on occasion. With only a couple of exceptions during our stay (and only when we took initiative), the staff never bothered to acknowledge us, say good morning/afternoon, or demonstrate a bare minimum of friendliness, let alone assist us with any needs that came up during our stay. Breakfast was diverse, but the quality wasn't great. For example, the fresh vegetables appeared to be pre-cut and were limp and slimy, and the scrambled eggs were inconsistently cooked every day. In summary, we've stayed in hostels that offered better overall service and higher-quality accommodations for significantly less expense, which is saying something. Save your money and go elsewhere, unless you truly don’t care about value or basic comfort.

We loved our stay in Hotel Roma: the location is incredible, just off piazza Maggiore; the room was lovely, the bed sooo comfy and we loved our green bathroom. Everyone was so kind, helpful and friendly, there was no request they didn’t support us with. Good breakfast. The one thing I would have appreciated was water included in the cost of the room and slippers but not an issue at all. thank you will come again

Classic hotel in good shape, friendly staff, and walking to main sites. It was hot when I was there and they did not have AC running. The window had a metal shutter that allows in air and kept out light. So I felt safe keeping the window open.
