Having recently stayed in this hotel it has its good and bad points Good- Location Transport services nearby Plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafes nearby Staff at hotel friendly 24 hour reception No problems when leaving and entry hotel Luggage keeping space AC in rooms Normal toiletries in bathroom Bad Housekeeping can be improved (had to ask for new towels on day 2 as housekeeping did not change them) Fridge was not working in the room (reported this and hotel mentioned nothing can be done) Shower head in shower was not the best, (spraying water in odd pattern) Sometimes there can be excessive noise in corridor For our 3 night stay, the hotel sufficed. However In hindsight I may have looked for something else. As we was out all day and strictly just used our hotel for sleeping and freshening up, we coped with it. As mentioned above, it has its good and bad points.

Terribly cold and dirty hotel room! We had cockroaches in the room, after killing them they stayed on the floor for 3 more days showing the rooms are not cleaned at all. Heating did not work and requires you to get a remote at the reception. Bathroom terribly dirty and unmaintained. We payed €70 a night, for which we could have find a much better place in Rome. ***UPDATE AFTER RESPONSE FROM OWNER*** Dear Sharon, We stayed at your hotel over new years eve. When I went to the front office to ask for a remote for the heating as my room was ice cold (mid winter?!), I also told that person about the state of the room. I received however the response that the hotel was fully booked and I could not receive another room. I am indeed 100% sure that I review he correct hotel yes. I fully understand that the rooms should be cleaned on a daily basis. However, I can simply only write here what I observe. The floor was definitely not cleaned as noted by the cockroaches, nor were the towels/bed refreshed. We stayed in this room 3 days as we were told the hotel was fully booked and this was new years eve so there were no alternatives. I am not going into a discussion here, but please don't blame your guests for writing a (bad) review. Please do not try to blame all my bad experiences on myself and tell me that it's my own fault. Considering the average score of the hotel, and other guests' experiences, I do not think that my review is absolutely 'unbelievable' like you write.

Completely unhappy to say the least with our stay here. The photos are NOT a true representation of the rooms. The room we stayed in was very small and Very basic with the “double bed” being two camping beds pushed together. Not only this but every night that we spent here we were woken up at 2am,3am etc. due to people shouting and arguing in the hallways. The “hotel” is not in my opinion a hotel, more like a hostel at best. We are completely dissatisfied with our stay here and would urge people not to book with Hotel Philia as it has ruined our experience of Rome.

This is a city hotel, it is a very old building in a busy area. To be honest I paniced when I had booked and then seen the reviews. But went anyway. The staff were lovely from the beginning, chatting and polite! We were early and were asked could we wait till the room was finished which was around 10 minutes. There was a waiting room to sit in. The lift is old and there is a lot of steps but for us this wasn't a problem. The cleaning staff were lovely too! Our room was dated but was clean. There was wear and tear on things like metal work or wardrobes etc but I expected it from the reviews. I would say this is a hostel hotel, but it is safe and u have ur own private bathroom etc. Any noise disappeared as soon as we closed the windows and doors. We both slept solidly the 3 nights we were there. The location was perfect for everything even though it was a little hard to find on the first day. The locals where very helpful and friendly! There is a shop next door that sells everything, should u need stuff. There is also a daily local market at the front which is lovely the sellers are very friendly and not pushy. Yes this place needs a bit of tlc, but we would stay here again. And knowing we were going to a budget hotel we didn't expect the Ritz.

The hotel is in a very old building and the floors and the lobby have been dirty. The hotel chef was very unfriendly, all of the other staff have been friendly. Breakfast isn't really good, just the coffe. Rooms are okay, but there are a lot of problems in the bathroom. For example the shower. The location is near to the Termini, but the streets around the hotel are messed. Can't recommend it.
