I have to agree with most of the poor reviews I’ve read about this place. When I arrived I was shocked! I was shown to a room, up three flights of dangerous winding unlit stairs, lugging my bags to a room which was shabby, and contained three beds, one of which was clearly falling apart. The bathroom was mouldy, the toilet continually ran and the safe deposit box was faulty. The host, ‘Adam’ was a lovely and animated person, clearly with the gift of the gab, who promptly shoved the card machine at me to get my money. To be fair, I liked Adam, but I didn’t like the false advertising for what he was offering. Unfortunately I was forced to stay one night as I couldn’t get anything else at such short notice. I slept in my clothes on top of the bed as I was sure I would not find anything nice under the covers. Thank God for the Eresin Hotel just up the road who rescued me and took me in for the rest of my stay. Thank god also for the Hippodrome Bistro across the road who welcomed me and became fast friends and trusted advisors for the rest of my trip. Do not stay at La Mer Boutique Hotel if you can help it.

Oh boy, I can't just tell enough about what we did not like about this place. The place is nothing as they display it with the photos here. It is merely accommodation in a building but not a hotel in any case. The place is above a small overpriced shop which is used as the reception, which is funny because I have never encountered anything like this. I paid for two rooms with a balcony, but I only got one. When asked, the caretaker/owner Hakan said that there is no other room available. The bathrooms are so small that your pet even wouldn't want to use them. It smells damp and of sewage water, there is no ventilation whatsoever, hence your room smells the worst also. There is no bin in the room, when asked for one, they asked me to use the tiny one in the miniature washroom. There is no drinking water provided by them in the room, which was also something new for us. There is no concierge service at all. We needed help taking our luggage down the steep staircase, but he directly refused and was very rude to my sister and almost ordered her to take the luggage by herself. We being polite, did not say anything. The breakfast was just super ordinary, nothing like what the pictures show. There is no refill whatsoever, if you go at 9:00 am, it is almost empty and the caretaker doesn't refill it. Most importantly, the owner/caretaker Hakan is a scammer. He cheats you in the name of helping you. We booked for a COVID-19 test, which costs TL 250, but he charged TL 450 and said he has nothing to do with it. But in reality, he actually pocketed the extra TL 200 which has nothing to do with the test, which has been confirmed with the testing laboratory. I did not get a receipt from him. He scams all the tourists so far I have seen. And he gets super rude if you do not avail any of his overpriced offers and/or airport shuttle services. If you do not want to get all your money pulled away by this rude caretaker/owner, stay in a substandard room, get no services at all, please DO NOT STAY HERE!

The name 'boutique hotel' really doesn't apply here. It's a very standard hotel which is part of a gift shop. The host Adam was really attentive but I was rather disappointed with the room. The bed was huge and very comfortable, but the rest of the room needs some work doing to it,namely bare patches of wall behind the curtains. My biggest gripe was with the shower,it decided when it was in the mood to give you hot water or not,the shower head had a life of its own and couldn't be fixed to a set position, it kept swinging around, and the shower doors wouldn't quite shut properly, often resulting in the bathroom floor getting wet. One time the shower door came off its runner and started to tip into the shower cubicle. I had to leave Istanbul three days early due to an emergency back home. I will not miss this hotel at all. For your information, I was in room 302.

A very warm welcome was received upon our arrival by Mateo who went out of his way for us which was extremely appreciated. Our rooms were beautiful and clean, anything we needed was provided for with a smile. Mateo, you rock darling! Breakfast was good and enjoyed the delicious little breakfast cookies!!!! Wish I had brought a stack home with me to Johannesburg, South Africa! Mateo was always accommodating and for that we will ALWAYS remember him! Thank you for making our first time in Turkey an amazing and unforgettable experience.

Wow. so, it starts with a bang. We ordered two rooms, with balcony. we got 2 rooms with more than 1 double bed and 2 single beds in each of the rooms. Mold everywhere, dirt, bathrooms dirty, towel racks not mounted on the walls, siting next to the toilet. Bad experience don.t recommend. Oh, glasses haven.t been washed/cleaned in like never. Sorry for coming here. Pictures to speak for themselves
