HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We made a reservation through Booking and once we arrive, late at night and tired from travelling, the receptionist (that did not speak English) told us that there was a mistake and he had no room for us! We were shocked because we already payed the room and exchanged some emails with the hotel that day before, asking for some services. We tried to contact the manager but he did not answer because he was sleeping. The only alternative that they proposed was to stay in another hotel close by (but worst, with hair in the shower) we did not have any other chance rather than staying in the street so we accepted. The next morning we spoke with the manager and he was not even apologizing to us, just giving excuses. We contacted Booking and they reimburse us but Mataraci made us pay for the night in that hotel that we did not chose for a higher price than they would have payed. So the hotel made a problem and we payed the consequences and the bill. The staff was also rude and impolite to us, speaking in an angry way. We stayed in Mataraci 2 years ago and we wanted to repeat the experience but now that the manager is different and after this experience (that was on the day of my birthday) we will not come back never again.

Picked because location is excellent. Had lot of problems getting sleep. Always hear floorboards creaking and people walking in rooms. Complained to staff. They tried and told guests to stop making noise. But hotel seems to have no/poor soundproofing. When we left staff apologized for noise and gave us turkish delight and souvenir. WiFi and breakfast were great, but if you want a decent night's sleep then better to pay little more for a better hotel.

The staff were friendly and negotiable. Rooms were clean and tidy. The hotel is priced fairly and is located at the city centre of the Old city. There are a range of shops and activities nearby. The breakfast was also free.

In theory, this is a good hotel. The cleaning is good, breakfast buffet okay (some yoghurt would have been nice), staff is friendly. However, do not book the family room!! It is in the basement, which is below the breakfast room and enterance. This results in noises all night. The owners know about this, but keep it this way. Also, there was a lot of mold and the toilet was leaking. There are only 3 very small Windows, facing the street. This resulted in stale air. I think the rest of the hotel is okay. It is in walking distance of all tourist sites. They should just stop renting the basement rooms.
