Metropole Suites South Beach

I don’t normally write reviews unless something is outstanding or terrible… This place was equally both of those things. First with my main beef, there was no hot water in my room… I had just flown halfway around the world, and airports for 19 hours, and all I wanted was a hot shower, A/C and comfortable bed. Literally that is the number one responsibility of any hotel in the world is to provide those three things. I was so exhausted when I got in that I just didn’t want to mess with it so I just took a cold shower, as painful as it was and crashed and then the next morning when I went to check out which is this morning, having to catch a flight… I told them at the ftont desk there was no hot water, and literally their response was a “sorry about that, have a great day”. Seriously. They didn’t give two cents care. I kindly mentioned you may want to get that fixed before you ever rent that room out again. Literally didn’t even respond or act like it was any deal at all… Almost every other hotel I would’ve ever stayed at would’ve been petrified at that statement and done anything to prevent me from writing this review. As any legitimate hotel would do they would offer you something for the inconvenience and the failure on their part to provide what you paid for. I’m not at the person he complains much but this was just basic common courtesy and business. Now here is the good parts.. when I arrived the girl was very friendly, the room was large it was like it used to be an apartment or something, it is a fantastic location just a block from the beach. You can tell it’s an older building that was renovated and it was done very well, it has interesting old pictures of movie stars in Elvis so all that was good. It has a lot of great restaurants on the other side of the block. Now here’s the part in between, I’m not for sure how they could ever have gotten a classification as a four-star hotel… The four-star rating is strictly based on amenities… I’ve literally stayed in hotels in over 500 cities around the world, and this probably had the least amenities of anything I’ve ever seen that is classified as a four-star hotel, so I kind of doubt that is a factor. The swimming pool is basically a large hot tub without the hot part. There is no parking, so you have to use an outside company and this was an off-season and it was still $40 for valet. Plus there is the $28 resort fee so already, The deal it seems like you’re getting is really not as good as you were getting. There is a restaurant next-door to it but there is no internal restaurant, no room service, nothing that would remotely classify it as a four-star hotel. This didn’t even have the basic amenities of like a hotel Holiday Inn express or courtyard Marriott, so anyway it shoot at the very top be a three star hotel. But honestly it’s borderline to star as far as classification. At the end of the day I realized I could’ve stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn, for the same price, I would’ve never had these kind of issues so my bad but if you’re more about staying next to the ocean that I guess this is probably a good option.
