The Positives: We stayed over at the hotel for one night to attend a funeral around Hazyview. The hotel is conveniently located and the rooms are really beautiful, comfortable and spacious. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful on our arrival. The Negatives: We needed to wake up very early on the day of the funeral. There was no water when we woke up at 4am and there was no one at the reception, no phone numbers in the room to call even in case of emergencies, and the security guards were nowhere to be found. We eventually got hold on the manager who was obviously sleeping at that time. When the water was finally switched on it was already late and we were late for the funeral. Apparently the hotel management switches off the water at 3am every day for no apparent reason. When we complained about the inconvenience and asked why the hotel doesn’t inform guests about the water situation, we were told guests are supposed to inform the hotel if they plan to wake up early. We did not even receive any apology from the reception staff about the inconvenience.

It was a pleasure staying in the lodge. The room was spacious, recently renovated, and offered easy access to the pool. The staff was very helpful. The food was well-prepared and there was a good variety of dishes, including game meat. The price is reasonable. A significant downside is the lack of a backup power generator. Electricity shortage is typical for the region. Currently, between 5-7 am and 9-11 pm, there is no power. I would say this is rather problematic, as this means no use of the pool is possible, nor is food offering available at these hours. I find it strange that nearby lodges that are not luxury have found a solution to this, while Perry’s Bridge still struggles with it.
