We enjoyed our 5 night stay before Christmas. The rooms and hotel was very clean, and the staff were very friendly. The beach access and pools were great and definitely worth the stay. There were a few things that took it from 5 to 4 stars... The food being the biggest one. Everything was average, and the service in the Asian restaurant was extremely slow even though it was half full. It was 40 minutes between when I received my entree and when my boyfriend got his. Portion sizes were very small throughout the resort (order 3 items per person to make it the size of a normal meal in the US). The room service was very good and fast, and we ended up getting this for dinner most nights. The water in the bathroom had an odd, strong smell. The premium liquor was worth ordering from them bars that had it. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and I would recommend staying there.

Our vacation at Royalton Chic Cancun was phenomenal. Prior to our stay, I had read reviews that complained about the food—and I have a very different opinion. All the food I had was very good and high quality. I highly recommend the sea bass at the Asian restaurant!! This resort has a “vibe team” that facilitates different activities. Some of the activities that we enjoyed were a silent disco, Spanish lesson, water aerobics, and yoga on the beach. The gym at this resort is good, and plenty of healthy food is offered at the restaurants. Service at this resort is very good, and everyone was welcoming and friendly. This resort does have a party vibe full of energetic music and people living it up. The beach was second to none. I highly recommend getting up to watch the sunrise at least one morning—it’s beautiful!! Overall, this is one of my favorite resorts I’ve ever stayed. The only opportunity for improvement, that I noticed, was the rooms could have been cleaned a little better. They were clean enough, but it was apparent that some surfaces hadn’t been wiped down when we first arrived. I would definitely stay at this resort again. Disappointing overall. This is neither a luxury or relaxing resort. I regretted my decision Immediately- the moment you walk in it is all an attack on your senses- the scents, sounds and flashing lights are enough to start the headaches. There is not one quiet place anywhere on the property- so if you want to actually relax and be pampered- RUN AWAY as fast as you can!!!! The hotel is clean, but you never know when you are going to get into the elevator after someone just purged- almost a daily occurrence. Do not waste your money on the Diamond club- your supposed butler will just show you around and make a dinner reservation - Most restaurants only have 15-20 tables, so if you do not eat at your assigned time, there was always at least an hour wait or you had to have the barffet. If you have an issue- the butler will tell you to go ahead call that department or it is just the way things are. Everything is inconsistent- the service may be great one night but not the rest of the trip, the food is awful- unless you are one of the many young adults out for the first time unsupervised. The food lacked seasoning, freshness and was served cold or at best room temp. The buffet was a joke- same food every day, and never hot. The level of service and attention to detail is definitely no longer what we have always known Cancun for. The service at the pool is terrible - I usually just grabbed our towels and found chairs. You would think adults could be responsible in the pool with their food and drinks, that is not the case. The sheer amount of obnoxious behavior has ruined Cancun for our family. This resort has disappointed us on what to expect service wise. The location is great and beautiful, it's everything else that disappoints. We are so excited to leave and never return!!
