Disappointing stay for 2 people for 2 nights. This hotel has a lot of potential but unfortunately I would not recommend it. Pros - Extremely comfortable, large beds - Good water pressure and shower temperature - Beautiful building and furnishings - Quiet location - Parking outside - Offered the usual activities in the area e.g. hot air balloon, quad bikes etc. (but we did not use them as we had already arranged privately) Cons - The staff competence and attitude (see explanation below) - Sly and argumentative management - Things close too early (the pool and sauna close by 6:30/7pm, the restaurant chef left at 9pm and you had to say before if you wanted dinner at the hotel) - Guest internet did not work - Rooms were not cleaned automatically - Extra charge for the sauna (€10 per person) which was not declared upfront - Mediocre breakfast - Currently surrounded by building sites and not much else It is a beautiful new building tastefully designed to resemble that of an older building. It has multiple floors which curve around, a few well placed terrace areas with good views, a grand entrance, parking outside, a nice breakfast/restaurant area, two pools (a smaller one inside and a larger outside) and sauna. The hotel is slightly further out from the centre of Goreme (5 min drive at most or 15 min walk) which is great to get away from the chaos and have a quieter environment with less obstructed views. However the immediate surroundings are basically ugly building sites and would be limiting without a car unless you didn’t desire to leave the premises often. Regrettably the staff are lazy, do not know how to do higher end customer services (which is what this hotel is trying to market itself as) and the management is sly. On the first night we wanted to use the pool and sauna. We were told we can’t use the pool as it was around 8pm so it was ‘closed’ but that they could put the sauna on for us. At the time of writing this, there isn’t any information on the website or on the sheets printed in the room about an extra charge to use the sauna and the staff did not inform us of this. The sauna itself is spacious and enjoyable but towels were not provided and there wasn’t any drinking water available. At checkout, we were surprised by an extra €10 per person charge for the sauna so challenged it. Staff became extremely argumentative. I pointed out that there isn’t anything on the website about an extra charge by showing them on my phone to which they still insisted that there is. We agreed to pay but emphasised that people should know when extra charges apply upfront and that I would include this in my review. The manager then claimed that I was trying to blackmail him even though we had said we would pay. We were not told that you need to hang a sign on your door handle if you would like your room to be cleaned. In every other hotel I’ve been to, you tend to hang a sign if you don’t want to be disturbed, not the other way around. When we returned to find our room hadn’t been cleaned, I informed front desk and they said the cleaning staff had already left. I asked for fresh towels and was given 3 bath mats for 2 people. I explained that I would like towels, not bath mats and then was given 2 towels and 3 bath mats. When I reported that the internet wasn’t working, the staff said they have a problem with iPhones connecting. Quite a lot of people have iPhones so this shouldn’t be an issue… after pushing back, he offered to connect me to the staff wifi which worked quite well but not consistently. Multiple times, when walking past front desk, the member of staff appeared to be sleeping and jolted awake when they heard someone. To summarise, for that price point (c. €80 per night off season) there are seemingly better places to stay. Save yourself the trouble of dealing with the staff and stay somewhere more central in Goreme.
