Stanford Inn & Suites Anaheim

My friend and I booked this hotel when she was going to a convention. We were going to use it as an opportunity to go to Disney. She got there first, and was barely in the room the first day due to her convention. The second morning, she woke up around five a.m. with multiple bug bites. Immediately concerned, she went downstairs to tell someone about it. The front desk clerk was very kind, but unable to approve a room switch without management. They waited for management (who came in a half hour later), who told her that they would not (not could not) downgrade or upgrade her room, and she would have to wait until check-out time to see if a room in the same caliber became available. Uncomfortable and exhausted, she had to return back to the same bug-infested room she'd received bites in, and had to sleep in the opposite bed. She was informed she could keep her items behind the desk until a room came available. Uncomfortable, she called me and we were able to book another room at another location, that didn't have bugs. Upon checkout, she was informed by the manager that they would be inspecting the room to see if they would need to charge her a "pest fee". I understand that hotels are not perfect, and sometimes get bugs. However, the situation was not handled accordingly. Being forced to return to the same room that she received bug bites in was cruel and not a way to treat guests. Refusing to downgrade OR upgrade her was a despicable show of customer service. Then finally accusing my friend of bringing in the bugs herself, and threatening her with a pest control fee was the last straw. My friend was told by the site we booked on that the remaining nights we were not staying could not be refunded, but the nights where she was bit, had anxiety and sleepless nights, were refused to be compensated by the hotel. Instead of remaining with this hotel, and due to how management handled the situation, we switched locations and could not be happier. I would not recommend sleeping here due to how they handle bug-infestations, or how morning management treats guest concerns.
