A great little Ryokan nestled right in Asakusa area, 5 min walk to the temple, 5 min to the subway, east to get to, lots of food options close by. Rooms are tatami and traditional Japanese (no chairs) only futons and pillows to sit on. Air conditioned and Wi-Fi in most rooms. Very clean, very friendly, no guests after 10pm but doors open 24 hrs. Shared toilets and showers. A very cool place for the adventurous and those seeking an authentic old school Japanese feel. My second time staying here and I’ll be back again.

Nostalgic rooms in the heart of the real Tokyo. The owner is friendly and helpful and the ryokan is an experience in itself. I felt at home in a strange and busy city. The place is clean and kept tidy. Toilets are indeed small, but who cares. Recommended, also for families.

excellent location, nice host, simple and clean. stairs are steep, and there is at least one room with no sunlight…window opens up to close wall next door. if you can avoid that room… otherwise, very good experience at a fair price.

Satoshi, who runs the place, is an extremely helpful native Japanese. He speaks impeccable English. He stands out as he is quite capable of conducting an unusually sophisticated level of conversation in English. The place was built as a Ryokan in the 1950s. So if you’re looking for a 100% authentic experience of an era gone by, this is it. It has all the modern fittings, like washing machine, etc., that would make for a stay not lacking in amenities. To top it off, the place is very clean. A shining example of what tourists have come to expect of Japanese culture. Go to a hotel to expect a hotel. Go to a ryokan to expect a ryokan. Don’t go to a ryokan, and grumble why it’s not a hotel.
