Hotel is nice, but rooms are tight, require some maintenance (sink was not emptying properly, shower door did not have insulation so water came out) and in depth cleaning (dusty in places such as windows sills, bathroom windows and door handles, closet..). There were several power cuts during morning hours where all guests were preparing themselves (I believe because power rating for the hotel is not enough), because of this the fridge leaked. The room is also noisy due to road-facing windows (even though there are two layers of double glazed windows) and a little breeze can also be felt. Elevator was not working on the last day. Do not get me wrong, overall the experience was good, the hotel is neat, bed is comfy, breakfast is good, staff is super nice and does its best (they are in short number, and sometimes the same person was doing all from reception, to breakfast to cleaning...) I think the problem may be management... the location though was not good, in the street nearby, where parking is free (near a school), my car was completely scratched on purpose. In the hotel street we also saw a purse in the floor, which made us wonder about personal safety, especially at night.

Despite some confusion and someone trying to get my banking information pretending to be the hotel (I booked with a third party site). And arriving at the hotel and the doors were locked. It's a small hotel so they do not have a full time person at the front desk. Despite all this my wife and I were very happy with the hotel. It is definitely a boutique hotel. Only 16 rooms I believe. The hotel was very comfortable and clean. The historic theme styled rooms is interesting and a nice feature. The top floor lounge and rooftop deck is quiet and peaceful. A reasonable breakfast variety included. The location is a bit out of the centre of Porto, a 25 - 30 minute easy walk or 5 - 10 min. walk to the subway. My only suggestion for the hotel is to repaint under the front awning. It gives a less than favourable impression upon arrival. The best part was the care attention from Filipe Moura the hotel manager. He makes sure you are taken care of before you arrive and during your stay. Overall I would recommend this hotel.

3 stars for a solidly 3-star hotel. Regrettably, this didn’t live up to its 4-star rating for us. Not one of our better choices for our Portugal adventures - it was one of the lower priced hotels we tried (hmmm, “penny wise, pound …!). Hotel is old and tired. Location midtown is a rundown neighbourhood. And as the hotel faces a busy street, don’t expect a peaceful stay during busy traffic times. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating.
