Very nice hotel with very poor hospitality. The rooms might be cozy, but the bathrooms have a conventional door (not a sliding door), which is a huge luxury in New York hotels. The wonderful spot to sleep was marred by a rude front desk who mocked me for asking how to get an afternoon coffee, a negligent front of house who seemed agitated at me waiting to get a seat in their empty restaurant, and a backed up service staff that forgot my order and brought me the wrong order after ignoring me for 15 minutes (and then only coming over to me to tell me I had to order something if I was going to sit). The lobby seems to be used by locals to work and hang, which brings a nice vibe, but it also means that there is nowhere for paying hotel guests to work and hang, and I was left feeling judged for being a visitor (at the hotel I'm staying at) and deprioritized in favor of the scene they want to create. It's worth staying here as long as you don't try to take advantage of anything other than the room itself, because the rooms are nice.

We have been regular customers at the bar and restaurant from past 2 years. We are unable to understand the new manager Fun's intentions with regular customers. In the month of Jan 2024, we visited 3 times. Every time we visited, Fun was running the restaurant and lobby space with different verbal hotel policy. Today, she didn't allow us to sit and have appetizers in the back hall saying it's reserved for full dining as per the hotel policy. And offered us to sit in the lobby. We respected her verbal policy change from the last time and agreed to sit in the lobby. I ordered an old fashioned and was served whiskey on the rocks with an orange peel. After we sat in the lobby and started to place food orders, she informed us if any hotel guest would like our table to sit; she would ask us to switch to a new table even if we are in middle of our meal. We asked her how a paying customer would be asked to switch in the middle of a meal, she gave us the feedback of it's new hotel policy. It appears this hotel is now going in the direction where regular customer is not valued overall and is served with poor quality & service.

The rooms are tiny. My wife and I stayed here and we each have a suitcase but there’s no way you can put two suitcases in the room and still walk around the bed so one goes in the bathroom which is also incredibly tiny. The toilet is crammed in between the sink and the shower and there’s not even enough room for a roll of toilet paper next to it so you have to reach under the sink to get to the toilet paper. There is no Kleenex. Good shower though. The room is charming however as is the rest of the hotel and it’s very sweet sitting in the lobby by the fire when it’s cold outside. The complimentary breakfast is quite limited and the frittata was awful and the sweet rolls not very good. Yogurt just fine. But the prices here are outrageous. At least when we were staying there. I think they vary a lot. The Washington Square Hotel around the corner is a much better deal (1/3 the price)and much nicer with bigger rooms. And the staff there is absolutely incredible. Although the staff here is very nice too. If you can get a room, I’d definitely recommend staying at the Washington Square Hotel.
