Lovely Hotel. Directly next to Edinburgh train Station, a two minute walk if you come out at the right exit point. The hotel is also sat directly next to the bridge linking the royal mile to princes street so the location is perfect. Will be staying here again. We stayed in a room on the ground floor. if I was staying again I'd want a room higher up, as all the blinds had to be closed so we had privacy from the street

A luxurious place with decent prices. Didn't stay over night, just had a lovely dinner with my family. Can't fault either the food nor the service. Very polite but still down to earth waiter. Tried haggis for the first time here. Was a lot better than I expected. The ribeye steak medium fried was very good.

We take are walk in breakfast here. The service was exceptional Kudos to Daisy 5start . The food was good and if you compare with there price is amazing. 19£ for all you can eat buffet (hot and cold ) plus a small a la cart menu . Good relaxing music and atmosphere in the breakfast area.

Spent 3 nights here as part of an Edinburgh City break between Christmas and Hogmanay. A beautiful hotel (former premises of the Scotsman newspaper) with so many original marble features. The room was a generous size with wood panelling. Of particular note for commendation is the Grand Cafe, which had a stunning ambience in which to spend an afternoon and also a superb evening dining experience. Staff were so friendly throughout the hotel and restaurants.

We've booked a table here, because it looked like a posh place to dine. The restaurant itself really looks amazing, but the service isn't really good. Despite an early booking for a table upstairs, we were sat downstairs. The staff took a while to come to our table and when they finally did, they didn't even light up the candles, so I had to do it myself. The food was okay, but not outstanding and the service looked quite unexperienced in general. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this place.
