Recent renovations, combined with a very central location in downtown Monterey, make this place a very good value. Only 10 minutes to walk to Fisherman’s Wharf, and another 20 min or so from there to Cannery Row and the aquarium. There is a Trader Joe’s about 5 minutes away if you want some groceries. There’s a refrigerator in the room but not a microwave, so you need to go to the lobby to heat things up. Despite being located on a busy intersection, the traffic noise wasn’t too bad. The staff at the desk are awesome, and the coffee in the lobby was surprisingly good (strong enough). The outdoor parking is quite convenient to the rooms, and there is also indoor parking available. There seems to be a fire hall nearby, as we heard fire trucks heading out with sirens blaring several times a day, probably the only bad thing I can say about the place. The tap water in Monterey is horrible tasting, one of the worst I’ve ever encountered (including Mexico), but there is a water filtration unit in the lobby that provides good tasting water.

Remodeled rooms still dingy office and outside. There seems some conflict if it's pet friendly reservations says yes $50 per day is too much but clerk waived 2nd day charge but at checki in I was told twice no pets are allowed no relief area and no waste bags even the hotel rules paper says $250 extra charge if you bring a pet. But inspite room clean and quiet and a good locatiom.

Have stayed here before during and after the pandemic. Like most Hotels they suffered but survived. That alone speaks to their quality & grit; but have to give extra credit for the improvements they did with their time & money during the off time that have fully paid off. You can tell the hotel guests’ comfort actually means something to this long time establishment. Just blocks away to great restaurants and shopping makes this a safe great value with upgrades that will keep me coming back ! Thanks Stevenson of Monterey !

Easy parking, well located, right next to the gas station so you can fuel up the next day. Room big and well equipped, comfortable bed. Generous with the coffee, as well as a machine in the room there’s a 24-hour coffee service in the lobby to keep you topped up. Only issue is, the curtains don’t draw all the way across because they’d cover the heater. As a result you’re only screened from the outside by a net curtain, and under certain light conditions people might be able to see in. But apart from that, it’s perfectly good and only a short walk from the waterfront.
