Cute little oasis. Old style but well maintained. Service is sufficiently good. It is one of the most peaceful places I’ve stayed. Location is great. Rooms are reasonable size and old styled.

Beware of any hotel that requires a CASH deposit. It's your money that they'd take freely if you don't fight for it back. Just don't book at places like these unless you're ready to FORGET, FORFEIT, or FIGHT. Pros: relatively comfortable bed and pillows; soap, shampoo, 2 towels, 2 bottles of water, 1 roll of toilet paper, small fridge, and hangers available in narrow closet; front desk will heat food for you as needed; walking distance 10-20 minutes to popular places Cons: difficult for taxi to find so I wouldn't stay here if you have flight time restraints; parking limited to 2 cars space if you're planning to rent any vehicle; room service between 2PM to 4PM and only tidy not clean (I'd have to assume stingy owner overworking staff, NOT lazy staff); safe deposit available but not usable because permanently locked; room on the smaller side; very dusty from old heavy curtains and clutter; electricity to refrigerator will be cut off when room key is removed 3 stars is very generous and fair

The Velvet Orchid is a small & cozy mansion situated in a quiet corner in the old town. The room was great (spacious, new, clean, & quiet), the location was good (within 10min of walk to the Sunday Night Market and with easy access to all the foods and massage places), the service was wonderful (staffs clean the room upon request; but we waited 15min for the manager to come check us in as she ran another hotel in town), and the hotel provides umbrellas for the guests.

City hotel wirh worst management. We arrived from the airport to the hotel at 6 p.m. and must determine that our confirmed booking was not considered! Wow...funny!😳 The lady at the front desk was completely overhelmed with this situation and didn't know what to do. After a few phone calls and 45 minutes later we finally had a room...hooray...but only for one night!!!😂 Because they messed our booking we got an upgrade from a superior room to a deluxe room for the rest of the week as an excuse. The new room was ok but not really bigger then the standard room. There was a whirlpool in the bath and now seperate shower. Clean up of the room was very good!!! One day we had no hot water for shower and the management needs one day to solve this problem! Every morning we could smell in our room what the staff of the kitchen prepairs for the breakfast. This food smell every morning was not really great! The breakfast you should not take in the hotel. It was worst and not delicious. Every day the same sandwiches and only 2 hot Thai food meals. There was only instant coffee and no real coffee. When you travel in Thailand you know that these little ants are everywhere, but you don't want them in the sugar, instant coffee or on your sandwich...in this hotel you will have!😁 The staff is really friendly and helpfull, but the management of the hotel is absolutely overwhelmed and can not lead a hotel! Maybe they should have some training how to lead a hotel! Everything is not yet as professional as it should be in such a nice city hotel. You need a lot of patience and good nerves here! We cannot recommend the hotel!
