Great location, always recommend the lake view. If you’re there over a Saturday you can watch the fireworks from your room at navy Pier. The suites are roomy and clean. The bed is comfortable and the staff and management are eager to please and make your stay comfortable. Easy to walk down to Michigan if you want to do some shopping.

We stayed over MLK weekend and the hotel was great for myself and my husband. The front desk staff was great from check in to check out and answered any questions we had. We didn't try the hotel or bar in the lobby, but the couches/nooks/seating were popular with other guests every evening. Our room was comfortable and exactly as advertised. It hasn't been updated recently so it had some wear and tear (like every hotel that hasn't been recently updated). We had a city view room, but the view of the lake from the elevator lobby was great so I'm sure lakeview rooms have gorgeous views. Our room had the wall couch, which was very comfortable and great to have since we spent 2 evening in the room to avoid the cold. My only complaint is the bathroom only had 1 towel hook. There was room for at least 2 or 3, so I beg Marriott to put at least one more more towel hook in each bathroom. The bathroom also lacked counterspace, but it was as pictured online so I knew that was possible going in. We booked our room crazy early and for Chicago's 'off-season' so we got a great rate. I probably wouldn't pay summer rates for the W, but it was great for our trip.

Where do I start... This hotel had a lasting negative impression on me. I booked 2 rooms one for myself and another for a family member. Right from the start one of the room's bathroom faucet was not working. So after bringing attention to this situation we were given another room the following day. So we had to go without a working bathroom faucet for the first night. An hour after the room swap we realized we left a gold earring in the previous room. We did not get permission to go back to the room til several hours after going to the front desk. By then the room was cleaned and the earring was stolen by housekeeping. This was not resolved. As if that was not enough I also witnessed 3 different fights throughout the day in the lobby. More than 25 cops swarmed the hotel after 30 mins. This is not a safe hotel. I also witnessed the bartender continually serve a drunk lady, who was visually drunk, falling, knocking down chairs, and making a scene. They should have closed her out. Will not be going back to this hotel. Despite the negative experience there was one worker who did stand out Pierre. He was part of the valet. He was extremely professional and respectful.

I stayed at W Lakeshore in October 2023 because I was in town to support a bunch of my friends who were running the Chicago marathon. The night before the marathon, as I lay in bed trying to get rest for the big day, I could hear music and feel vibrations from it. I wondered, where could this becoming from? Then I realized, my room was on the 32nd floor, and on the 33rd floor is an event space. Earlier in the day when I was checking in, I noticed that there was a wedding happening in the hotel. I put the pieces together – the wedding was having its party just one floor above me while I was trying to sleep. Needless to say, I had a terrible rest, and had no energy to support and cheer on my friends. I brought this up to the hotel, and they did not offer any reconciliation. So I basically paid good money to stay here and get no sleep. Find other accommodations if you want to be treated respectfully and appropriately. But if you do choose to stay here, stay away from the 32nd floor.
