TownePlace Suites Pittsburgh Airport/Robinson Township

Honestly, the room is not bad, but the service (or lack thereof) is reflective in the one star review. The two gentlemen I dealt with at the desk on separate occasions were rude and lacked any concern or care. We checked in on a Wednesday and out the following Monday. Our room was never cleaned. We even requested cleaning a total of FOUR times during our stay, and still we received no service. When I informed the older gentlemen at the desk that we needed fresh towels and a new trash bag, he responded a bit disgruntled and told me I can come get them downstairs. When I went downstairs, he proceeded to scoff at me and just threw the towels down on the desk for me to grab. He was very rude.. Other than the lack of service, our toilet had problems flushing and would keep running, never filling with water. I was able to take care of this myself when it happened, but it happened often. Based on my experience, I would not recommended this hotel for a multi night stay.

Until staying here recently, I had stayed at every other Marriott property (and several Hilton properties) within 20 mins of PIT airport. Check-in – Was just ok… The clerk seemed busy with so much more, thus prioritizing my check-in process lower in his list of things to do. He was somewhat friendly, just not as focused as he probably should be to provide a great first impression of their property. Room – I got into my room and the first thing I tend to do is start the TV while I unpack dress clothes to let them hang and de-wrinkle a little. I looked around the room, but couldn’t find the remote control. Sooo…. I called the desk and the same guy who checked me in promptly brought me a remote. I used it and the TV wouldn’t turn on… Oh well, I gave up on this and finished unpacking and decided to stop by the desk on the way out to dinner to let him know. He ultimately got it fixed for me and it worked great the rest of my stay. The bed in the room was fine. The bathroom was slightly odd because the toilet was so close to the vanity that sitting on the toilet was difficult as the toilet paper holder was protruding into the area where the toilet was, so I bumped it each time and getting toilet paper off of it was difficult – ridiculous ergonomics here! The shower is a newer style with no door and a glass wall, but water still sprayed out when using it. The long metal drain plate was missing, so there was a small drain below the ledge where that plate was supposed to be and the shower floor was really slippery, they clearly don’t clean entry area of the shower when cleaning the room. Location – It’s a decent location, but the lights between the Parkway (376) and getting here, even tho it’s very close, are a pain! Typical of PA, they have silly “no turn on red” signs and there are too many lights, which are often red. I’ve stayed at the property next door before and forgot about this, which adds a few mins to your trip. I’ll definitely stay elsewhere next time. Overall – The property really wasn’t bad, but I do find it way more convenient to stay at the PIT Airport Marriott, which is literally right off the highway, rather than dealing with the silly local roads to get to this property, so if the price is decent/comparable at that Marriott, I’ll go for it next time. The Moon DoubleTree is often the same price as this place and is really nice, so that’s another great option for this area.
