White Gioberti Guesthouse

Well, what can I say about White Gioberti Guesthouse? There are only 2 positive thing about this place. Firstly, it’s a 5 minutes walk to Roma terminal. Best 5 minutes walk to leave the apartment really. Secondly, the apartment had a booklet of recommendations of places to visit and eat. Here comes the negatives... The bathroom - The shower does not drain properly and comes close to flooding - even after a short shower - so expect to wait for two hours or more to allow the next guest to take a lovely non hot shower. The shower head had around 5 streams of water coming out at angles that went everywhere but your body. You will have better luck getting a shower at the Trevi fountain. The shower tray was also covered in the previous guest’s hair. The bedroom - after 30 minutes of being turned on, the AC will drip water constantly onto the bed and the floor. I expected a swimming pool in the apartment with the amount of water that was coming out of the air con. The bed was also uncomfortable. It was a hard mattress with two thin pillows. We also had access to an iron and iron board, but unless you like to iron on a honeycomb effect, best to pack clothes that don’t need ironing since the board doesn’t have a cover. The advert claims to be a guesthouse where smoking is not allowed, though it seemed this rule didn’t apply to our neighbour - we felt like we were smoking with them as the smoke was seeping into our room as well. Don’t be expecting sound-proofing either-you can hear every conversation and noise from the corridor and neighbouring rooms. If that’s not enough entertainment, you can also hear cars passing by and recycle bins emptying rubbish past midnight. Best to buy ear plugs. The host - on the day of arrival, we received a WhatsApp message with the code number and a link to a youtube video on how to use the door locks. We did find it a bit odd that we were asked to contact the host via Air BnB, despite the booking being made on Expedia. On the day of arrival, It was also brought to my attention that there were two rooms booked under my name. Expedia had multiple difficulties contacting the hotel to resolve the double booking and Luigi was unresponsive and uncooperative to resolve the matter.
