We booked a room for 4 people and was given a room (Urakaze room) on ground floor, it didnt have a toilet or bathroom, to bathe we had to walk downstairs to the common bath. Everything looked fine till late night or early morning when I got attacked by bed bugs, my back, shoulders, and knee is covered in bites and super itchy. Went to drug store to get anti-itch cream but nothing works to help with the itch. Got home and sent the hotel an email to report the incident, was not wanting compensation as such but more so other guest do not experience my discomfort but there was no reply. I just feel it would be nice that the hotel at less contact me to check on the situation and advise that they will do something about it. I hope the bed bugs is only in 1 room and not in other rooms.

We booked a classic japanese style room, which had mold at the ceiling, many of the paper walls were damaged or broken. When we entered the room we noticed that sounds from the outside were very loud. When we asked to change the room, they denied, as they were „fully booked“. The bathroom is super super tiny. They charge over 120€ / 19.000 Yen a night. We tried cancelling the stay. Have not seen any money back yet.

Great location close to Dotonbori. The tatami rooms are a bit dated and tired, but clean, and the free gender separated onsen more than compensated. We fit 3 people in a room with a private bathroom but had to juggle open suitcases, so I think 2 people to a room would be perfect. Don't forget this is a Ryokan, in a great location, so don't expect the big rooms in Australia or USA. We booked the kaiseki dinner for New Year's Eve and it was delicious. The staff are lovely and helpful and thanks to google translate communication was clear.
