About Imphal Airport

Imphal Airport is officially known as Bir Tikendrajit International Airport (IATA: IMF). It is the third-busiest airport in northeast India. It was constructed as a significant supply airfield for the allied forces during World War II. In 2019, it was renovated with an integrated terminal building, new aircraft parking bays, a new air traffic control tower, and a technical block. It is an international airport, and there are regular flights to foreign countries. Imphal Airport has two terminals, but only one is active for both domestic and international flights. Located just 8 km away from Imphal city centre and situated at a height of more than 2500 ft, the airport connects the capital city of Manipur with almost all other major cities of India, including Delhi, Bengaluru, and Kolkata. The airport operates two departure and arrival gates and has ten check-in counters. It also has a few shops selling traditional products, magazines, accessories, etc. You can take a bus or cab from the city centre to reach the airport.
