The Lengpui Airport, located in Aizawl, is Mizoram's principal airport. It is one of the few big domestic airports owned and operated by a state government. The airport opened in 1995 and has since played a significant role in promoting tourism in Mizoram. There has been a tremendous increase in plane traffic and passenger numbers at Lengpui Airport in recent years.
