Belgaum Airport is a domestic airport also known as Belagavi Airport (IATA: IXG, ICAO: VOBM). The upgraded terminal complex was opened to the public in 2017. Originally built in 1942, Belgaum Airport is the oldest in the state of Karnataka. During World War II, the RAF used this airport as a training base camp. It opened for private airlines in 1989, with domestic flights operating via Bengaluru.With the gradual expansion of the airport, major airlines commenced services connecting it to major cities. The new terminal complex spreads over 3,600 sq m and can accommodate 300 passengers.The Belgaum Airport has two conveyor belts for baggage and ten check-in counters. It also has X-ray machines, frisking booths, elevators, and car/taxi parking. The airport is well-designed and landscaped with lush green gardens. It has several shops and restaurants for travellers' convenience. The airport is 10 km away from the city.
